with me on the phone is kcbs' holly quan live on the scene. we're hearing this is a wrong- way driver that caused this crash? >> yeah. absolutely. i'm looking at a twisted heap of what's left of a black toyota corolla about 11:30 to 12:00 a.m. last night alameda police made a stop on a silver suv. a driver with four people inside took offer heading the wrong direction into the webster tube slamming head on into a black corolla. the corolla driver suffered major injuries. gold car behind them slammed into the car, with moderate injuries. the suv driver and passengers jumped out, they were caught and arrested. three females in the back seat, one suffered minor injuries and went to the hospital. >> reporter: was the driver going the right way the person with the major injuries involved in the crash? >> yes. we believe so. that was the driver of the black toyota. he was coming out of the webster tube and then slamming head on into the silver suv that was going the wrong direction. >> reporter: holly, did you say one person was arrested the person

holly quan from kcbs will be joining us shortly with a phoner and anne makovec will be on the scene of this fire, as well. good morning, it's wednesday october 20. i'm juliette goodrich. >> i'm sydnie kohara. your time 16 clock. let's go ahead and get a quick check of traffic and weather at 6:00. elizabeth has traffic and a big backup at the bay bridge. >> we do. we have a couple of problems now. first with this fire we have just learned that fire crews are now blocking off a wider area around the scene of the fire. the fire itself is on the 800 block of hyde street so we mentioned hyde street is shut down in both directions between sutter and bush streets. now they have stretched the closures out to bush street. bush street is closed now between larkin and jones. shutter is also closed between larkin and jones. your best bet really is to avoight that entire area. metering lights were turned on early just after 5:30. unfortunately, we're left with a good sized backup already for this time of the morning. and still they got one lane blocked once you get past the metering lights which ar
