susan brand holly, m.e.o. lawrence. >> good afternoon president miguel and members of the commission, i am susan brand holly representing historic knob hill. i appreciate the further explanation about his memo which i did respond to yesterday and i hope you had a chance to receive it. as i understand it and the tape shows from the last hearing, the commission declined to certify the fairmont eir and then gave direction to staff what to do to fix it. i think where the disconnect is possibly between what the commission required, and as i understand the memo, his staff is indicating it's unclear whether project alternatives need to be analyzed. in fact, historic knob hill through myself and a lot of speakers clearly addressed why alternatives were needed, specifically because there may be significant environmental impacts that weren't adequately identified and the conclusions have not been adopted at this point by this commission, so there's a dispute and a lot of evidence that there are other significant impacts

i'm holly morris. thursday my question is when was the last time you came to the air and space museum? whether you've been here once or too many times to count, i'll give you a reason to come back. now they have something old, yet new again. pioneers of flight was one of the original exhibits when the museum opened in 1976 and it has to do with the development of flight. during world war i to world war ii exhibit has been updated and ready for you to come and learn more. it is displaying new research, never-before seen objects in the collection and they have a lot planned when you come take part in the exhibit as do we. it opens to the public tomorrow. we're getting the first sneak peek today. we'll look at it from the airplanes to the individuals significant during that time and show you some things that you haven't been able to see before. and my second reason to come to the museum has to do with the first, but this saturday they're having a huge family day where it will be interactive, it will be cr

i'm holly morris.you are making your weekend plans, you might want to pencil in a show on saturday. and the show i'm talking about is the premier performance of d.c.'s next generation of dancers. we are live this morning at the performing arts center for montgomery college in takoma park and you can see we have a lot of activity. a last-minute practice. it is called movement of the people. and this is a special dance company because they are the most versatile in the area. they have hip-hop down, they have jazz down, they're going to do a little bit of ballet, contemporary and ballet and they fuse it together and put on an impressive show that will sell out on saturday night. this morning we'll find out more about the -- the dance company, who makes up the company and the mission in general in terms of capital movement inc. and what they want to get across in the nation's capital. and i hear we're going to learn how to do something called the glide. i don't know what that is. but they told me to wear f

i'm holly morris. and on this veteran's day, to all of the veterans, i say thank you.edy green car wash in manassas where they are also saying thank you to veterans. we have a few arriving as we speak. they are giving veterans a free car wash or motorcycle wash. this is the first motorcycle wash place in the district area -- in the d.c. area, and also the first self-serve detail place in the country. they use 100% recyclable water and biodegradable chemicals. we'll learn more and talk with the owner and find out why he's giving this veteran's day offer. i have a feeling it has to do with the fact that his dad was a world war ii veteran. and we'll find out what this day means to a veteran washing his bike. and then we have the marines of chantilly standing at attention for us this morning because they will give the veteran's day salute. but they are having a wash and wax fundraiser here on sunday to raise money for their cause. and we'll talk to them and teach us how to put together the right care package to send overseas. they will tell us what we need and how to go ab

d fp >> reporter: good morning, everybody. >> reporter: i'm holly morris.m thanksgiving. and there are a lot of people that live in this city that don't know where the next meal is coming from. and that's why today we are live at d.c. central kitchen. the soul of the city is their mantra and each day they took in 3,000 pounds of leftover food and turn it into meals to help our area. and do you remember last month when we were doing the loudoun county farm tour and we had the heritage breed turkeys. they are delivering 5,000 pounds of turkey. this is part of the drive they have here at d.c. central kitchen and how they gear up to help serve thanksgiving dinner for those in need. and some don't realize there is a catering business that runs out of d.c. central kitchen. and we'll talk about the healthy meals they'll come up with and we'll talk with a graduate of the culinary school and now works in the d.c. central kitchen catering business and we'll talk to him about the difference this has made in his life. so i think this will be a perfect morning for us to

holly quan reports from the location. >> reporter: good morning. this is a three-alarm fire that broke out just before 3:00. there were huge flames and smoke that came from this single story metal warehouse on corey road between harbor and industrial about a quarter block down from the elevated train tracks in san carlos. the fire is out, they have overhauled it. there was some smoldering things inside but the fire marshal did tell me that when he was inside, he did see some musical instruments and later confirmed that some of these things do belong to bay area music legend neil young. we are still waiting for information with regard to what other things may have been inside. we hear from some of the people around here that there was a warehouse that was stacked full of belongings. we don't know if it was just his or other people as well but it was a private warehouse storage facility. still waiting to get details on what else is inside. >> holly, has it spread to other buildings? >> reporter: it looks from the street here the -- warehouse is setba
