i hear you crunching. >> reporter: good morning, i am holly morris. are waking up with this friday morning. i am waking up with the sharks. i am standing above the brand new 12 and a half million dollar exhibit in baltimore aquarium. it is home to 20 black tip sharks and 65 other species. they are all living in this environment. jack culvert is the general cure ray to. you were telling me we really are, these sharks are waking up as we talk? >> they are waking up, they are not too in tune to airborne sounds. they are moving around, all the fish are moving aren't. >> reporter: they are in tuned to the light. >> they are in tuned to the light. light is coming up with dawn and dusk. we recreate nature here. a lot of the smaller fish, how can we keep the smaller fish with sharks, which are apex predators. >> reporter: i was wondering. [laughter] how do you keep the little fish? >> we recreated this coral reef structure exactly the way it would grow in the wild. this is where the small fish sleep. they find hiding places physically protected by the coral f

holly morris is at the national aquarium in baltimore. good morning.hink jaws. sharks are important to our e co systems and ocean wildlife. here at the national aquarium, they teach that in terms of loving sharks. this is the new 12 and a half million dollar exhibit called black tip reef. it is almost breakfast. >> before they came into the exhibit, we spend months and months training them. this is the breakfast bell for the sharks. >> reporter: why do we need to do this? >> this orients the sharks to come over for their feed. it is a challenge with the exhibit, other fish coming over for the food as well. what we try to do is specifically target the certain species and make sure we train them to come to the station and get into the routine. >> reporter: this is about as safe as it gets to feeding sharks. if they can get easy food like this, the other cute fish swimming by will stay cute fish? >> exactly. we want to help make sure the sharks get their feed. they are, we have recreated the whole e co system, small fish with big fish and apex predators.

our own holly morris, you have run it before, holly, apparently. incline, what do you think about this? >> first of all, never use the word "easy" and marathon in the same sentence. every slight grade matters when you are running. trust me. i ran the marathon in 2001. they ran that route when you made a right on m street. it is a wonderful, wonderful route. the thing about the marine corp marathon, for a lot of people, it is their first marathon. fast and flat is great. also a marathon where a lot of people like to run it because they are trying to qualify for boston. i am all for making marathon running a great experience. it is a wonderful accomplishment if you get to do something like that. this is what i say when i am talking about running a marathon, you are not running 26 miles, you are running 2 miles 13 times. it is mind over matter. >> are you running with a dog today? >> i usually don't run with a dog. if i could run with this dog, i would. have you ever seen anything cuter, this is tito. we are live at the washington annual league. they
