we could be in more danger because now we have to worry about retaliation and our the homeland security department is immediately saying and they need more security that they need more money so i just don't see how how this is possibly going to stop. well if you look at the reaction in congress there are two camps forming and there's one camp that says look what's happened here has wrapped up the mission in afghanistan at best rightly even if you bought the original rationale for the war that now that bin laden is dead and al qaeda is driven from the country it just doesn't make sense to keep shoving troops at it and you've got this other camp that saying oh no there's nothing to see here folks the worst got to go on but those folks are really bitter enders when you when you compare them to american public opinion the american public has said before bin laden was killed when he was still out there somewhere that this war is not worth the cost and when people tell you that after bin laden is gone we've got to keep dumping two billion dollars a week on the afghanistan war to keep us safe from al qae

you have the immigration customs enforcement which is part of the homeland security department. this is a huge debate in terms of how you address the illegal immigration population inside the united states. the homeland security department has been trying to go around and audit companies and look at their i-9 forms and determine which companies are hiring illegal immigrants and placed binds on them. there is a lot of criticism that the department is not doing enough on this front. at the same time, people inside government will say that we have this huge problem with our immigration system not being as up-to-date as it needs to be. there's a need for congress to reform the nation's immigration system and create a way for immigrants, people looking for jobs, to come into the country legally and work. people who are working at these jobs from other countries, will send money back to those other countries. it is a very difficult situation because especially in the construction and retail and hospitality industries, you have u.s. workers competing with workers from other countries. t

the department of homeland security and the fbi have put out a warning to police departments all acrossing them that al qaeda has a continuing interest in trying to strike oil and natural gas targets here in the u.s. what that means is, last year, 2010, they got some intelligence that al qaeda was perhaps targeting or looking for targets at oil tankers, commercial oil infrastructure in the united states, and what this is saying is, based on what they found in osama bin laden's compound, that interest has not abated. there is a continuing interest by al qaeda to go after those targets. now, in the intelligence circles they've got something what they call actionable intelligence. they don't have that here. there's no specific date. there's no specific time. there's no person that they can point to to say they have a plan in motion. there's nothing imminent so they're not going to put out a full alert. but what they're doing is putting a warning out to all these police officers across the country to say, look, remember your procedures for reporting suspicious activity. also, you know, rand
