nbc bay area's robert honda joins us from san jose, where a march and a demonstration drew a big crowd of supporters. labor day is about supporting the workers movement, and it's more than just a holiday activity to be here. about 200 to 300 hospitality workers set up a loud picket line outside the signia by hilton san jose hotel on this labor day, though some have been protesting here since sunday. the union members are made up mainly of housekeepers, cooks, servers, bartenders, bellmen and dishwashers who work for the hilton, hyatt and marriott chains. their labor contract expired in june, and the hotels and unions have not resolved differences over pay, working conditions and benefits, including health care. for me, it's more important wages and health care because this economy, we, you know, we cannot live in this area. it's too expensive. plus, i have family. the striking group marched through downtown to protest in front of the other hilton and marriott hotels. local leaders joined the action and pointed out this is not a typical labor day. this this battle between the middle cla

here's nbc's robert honda. we're here at el pino park in saratoga, where some neighbors say the activity here at these pickleball courts is driving them crazy. a big part of it is that when these courts are locked, some people play anyway. pickleball is definitely a loud game, but how intrusive the noise is and how much people who aren't playing have to put up with, is a big part of the discussion here in saratoga. some neighbors who live next to cato park say it's maddening. it's like a popping sound, and it's not a pleasant sound. it's not something that you get used to. i thought i would get used to it after a while, but i haven't, and it's very penetrating. the courts are mainly used by members of a pickleball association through reservations, but there are also times for the general public. right now there are signs posted and big locks meant to enforce the posted hours, which say the courts are closed after 6 or 7 p.m. but neighbors say the posted hours don't seem to matter to players. every morning we co
