[applause] during his short time here on earth dr. martin luther king jr. once said, "our lives begin to end the day we become solid about things that matter -- silent about things that matter." tonight as we celebrate that world vision and commitment to peace and justice that guided dr. king and inspires the leaders here with us this evening, we are mindful of the fact that we stand on the shoulders of those who refuse to be silent about things that mattered most. truth, justice, equality, and opportunity for all. to that end, as we begin making our plans for the dedication week, we wanted to be sure that our celebration included time to remember dr. king as a leader with world vision, his concern was for the rights of all people, not just here in our own country, but those who live across the globe. for that we owe him a continuous debt of gratitude.
