and so that's why north of santa rosa, the national weather service around the russian river at hoplandood watch as soon as 2:00. this afternoon, where the river is going to rise above flood stage. but right now it's just light rain here, right. santa rosa, 101 guerneville. and the cold front as it begins to move to the south and east, we'll get the heavier rain here. right now. it's been light to moderate from hayward to 8-80 in fremont. sunol 680 a little bit of moderate rain, but then there's a break here along the peninsula, and you can see the line here where the rain is just kind of not quite made it into the south bay. morgan hill, a little bit of shower activity and then into the mountains. we are looking at snow, winter storm warning through 4:00 on sunday and there's an avalanche warning for the back country once again, a weak snow pack as we have really strong winds and more snow coming with the snowpack underneath. not very stable. so that's why there's a chance for potential for more avalanches in the back country of the sierra nevada. 47 here in santa cruz, with some light

the rushing river around hopland will be one to watch and we will see the potential for shallow landslides with more rocks on the road and more of that debris. careful in and around everybody over the next couple of days. into tahoe with the storm tapping into the subtropical moisture, snow levels will be higher 7000 or 8000 feet locally and less than half of that up and south bay tahoe. as we take a look at the temperatures, the subtropical component, we will be in the 60s to mid 60s and monday, a bit of the same. not a cold couple of days but there is more rain on the way. a brief break for tuesday that we see a chance of rain developing a gun for wednesday and a could linger for thursday but it will break apart giving us the 7 day forecast. stormy, brief break, chance for rain then drain out into the latter half of the week and we could even reach temperatures feeling pretty mild in the mid to upper 60s as we go into next weekend. >> it's not even that cold. >> and the lows, no more 30s. >>> still ahead, getting funky with fungi. we take inside the east bay fair showcasing everything fr

we also have widespread flood watch in effect for the north bay, and then the russian river at hoplandthis morning and may cause issues. later this morning we'll have tidal flooding, with high tide coming up at 8:23, the peak of the high tide, we could see some of those water levels coming up about a foot to a foot and a half above what's normal. that may cause some flooding, even as the rain tapers off. we're still seeing the last push of heavy rain moving through the south bay, with it ramping up again for marin county and along the coastline into san francisco. for the south bay, we've had that heavy rain hitting the roof for the past hour or so. it's still coming down for morgan hill to gilroy. that's where we're seeing the biggest impact to the commute this morning, going throughout the day we're still going to see lingering showers and even the potential of isolated thunderstorms. we're not completely in the clear. the next wave of rain comes in on wednesday into thursday, and we're looking ahead to more rain for potentially friday into early saturday. but then as we take a look

breezy winds and the possibility of even perhaps some flooding up towards the russian river near hoplandome of the heaviest rain will be in the far north bay. so here's a look at our satellite and radar composite, where you can see pretty active to the north here. and as we get in closer right along the coast here from point reyes and inverness, some light showers all the way down through highway one, their west eastward. i should say santa rosa reporting some lightrillionain and mist and drizzle further south along marin county as we go eastward, you can see some of the returns here out towards the delta and then slipping into the san pablo bay. so we are certainly looking at the rain on the way right now. temperatures are mild out ahead of it in the mid 40s, 50 in san rafael, 45 in sonoma. and there's a look outside from our emeryville camera. so the level two storm soaks us today with lots of heavy rain tonight. right. and then looking at the winds ramping up as the cold front pushes through this afternoon and evening hours. and then for the holiday on monday, martin luther king day.
