we of course don't own housing. we don't develop housing. we are part of collaboration wts mayor's office on housing and with affordable housing providers to allow us to pay subsidies and put services into affordable housing units so that the rents are lower, so that homeless people and people with disabilities can live in those units, and also get the support of services that they need in order to maintain the housing there. i don't have a lot of time but i took a look at number of seniors that we house so in our supportive housing program which is called direct access to housing we have 1600 units. at least 26% of the units are set aside for seniors so that earmarked for seniors. you have to be a senior 55 or older to get in. in reality 58% of residents are seniors and we have subsidies for people with hiv and we had people earlier testify going that and 41% and 72% of those units -- actually of those vouchers, of the subsidies are used by people over 50. that's probably no surprise but i want to give you those numbers. in our medical resi

housing for lgbt seniors. the price of the one bedroom apartment now is $2,700 and the average ssi payment is $1,200 if that, so just numbers alone most seniors are not going to afford a market rate apartment in san francisco or anyone that is disabled and receiving a government subsidy. for us in terms of housing discrimination complaints and about 65% of the complaints are discrimination complaints are regarding housing and about 40% are alleged discrimination on disability or alleged sexual orientation and disability is the one that we get the most complaints about. a big issue for us definitely is reasonable accommodations which is reasonable change in policy and procedure for disabled people to stay in housing such as having a care giving, physical and emotional support animals and food delivery and the third party subsidies. definitely if somebody is living alone and away from their families and lgbt or otherwise and rely on people and face discrimination of providers that don't understand the concept a

it's it's about housing. housing is a critical issue. that's what we're faced with with people getsing evicted. there is a mass exodus of low income working class people in san francisco. it's tragic. we see it everyday. it's accessibility and affordability and if they're not accessibility as they age and develop disabilities they can't use them. it is true some of the things that we see going on in senior disability action. if you're a senior or person with disability in a rent controlled affordable housing and been there for a time you're walking with a giant target on your back and it's causing mental anguish of people. you see landlord it's people in the housing and you know this they pull the mickey house games, not cashing the checks, low level harassment and low down thing just to force the people out. that's what is happening. another thing is the senior and disability service provider community which does generally pretty good job but still there's a great need for more cultural awareness sensitivity toward lgbt seniors and peop

it's an old cable car house. guy who lived there in the early 1960's, he had a boyfriend named cliff. they paint it yellow. when he got a new boyfriend named dennis, they painted it red to get rid of cliff. but it was a beautiful little car. he still remembers it. it disappeared, we think, sometimes in the 1970's. but this is what keeps my hopes up. this actually isn't in carville. this is in the richmond district on ninth avenue. people say, are there any car houses left? are they all gone? have they disappeared? this is an example of how one can surprise you. this is on ninth avenue in the parking lot behind the old coliseum theater. before that park being lot was there the city was looking for houses, spaces, near merchant corridors to create these little parking lots. they bought this house from a mrs. suggs because they wanted to tear it down and put the parking lot in. when they started tearing the house gown, they realized that this kind of boring house was made up of three old cable car trailers. even tho

this house sort of became like the winchester mystery house. it kept growing and growing, and having more additions and more cars annexed on to it. so at one point it has up to 10 cars. you can see they're using old dash signs or destination signs for fencing, actually, here in the front. so everything gets recycled in carville. later mrs. patriarch's bed and breakfast becomes an episcopal church called st. andrew's by the sea. so here it is in that incarnation. in the back there's a shed there. that's the sunday school, it says. you can see the fence. it was necessary to sort of fight the sand and keep it at bay. it's another pretty famous house on the great highway. it looks sort of like a mechanist myian temple or something. it kept being boxy and then growing. it's in the center here. it was made up of about four or five cars, actually. you could see people had different takes on it. some people liked to keep their cars very exposed and open. kind of have that old sutro land quality to it. so people could see it was a car. and others really
