those do define some of the core issues that have been examined both in the house and senate in our judiciary committee investigation and from what we know of it publicly, the intelligence committee questions. those do strike me as some of the core issues i would expect mueller to be looking at. >> meanwhile, senator, congressional investigators in the house intelligence house committee are wrapping up their probe, republican majority, and as you heard moments ago, republicans on the committee simply say there's nothing left to explore. your reaction? >> i don't think that's accurate. we just had a conversation in the senate judiciary committee earlier today about how many of the witnesses we should have called on a bipartisan basis, have not yet come in similarly in the house intelligence committee. there's a number of witnesses who came in and refused to testify, or who were never called. i don't think they have gone to the logical conclusion of their investigation. i am encouraged that the senate intelligence committee continues to make forward progress on a bipartisan basis. in fact, just this week, the senate intelligence committee unanimously made recommendations

house intelligence committee today. >> reporter: republicans on the house intelligence committee abruptly ending their russia probe without telling democrats. announcing that they have found no evidence of collusion between the trump campaign and russia to sway the 2016 election. >> you never know what you never know, but we found no reason to think that there's something we're missing in this regard. we've talked to everybody we believe we need to talk to. >> reporter: president trump touting the announcement in all caps on twitter, but democrats insisting that the investigation was incomplete and that a number of witnesses and documents still need to be subpoenaed. >> they would ask, you know, very conclusive questions like, did you conspire? did you conclude? and if they said no, the republicans were content to leave it at that. that's not conducting an investigation. that's going through the motions. so the fundamental problem from the beginning was that my colleagues viewed their job as protecting their client, the president, rather than getting to the truth. >> reporter: republican tom rooney lamenting that the committee's partisan infighting has gone off the rails. >> we lost all

committee at best. and could be construed as perjury at worst. the second problem with prince, however, over and above that was his involvement with david nunes, the chairman of the house intelligenceommittee who had to recuse himself from entire russia investigation of his own committee because he was providing intelligence to the president and the white house on the fly. and mr. prince met with mr. nunes and i thisnk we need to know what transpired in the conversations was nunes counseling you before you testify before the committee. we don't know. but it is another very troubling aspect of mr. prince's behavior. and frankly mr. nunes behavior. >> and we do need more answers to understand this. and i want to be very explicit on george nader, uae adviser who had ties to advisers to trump. so that's his link. i said adviser to the campaign. go ahead. >> and he's not cooperating with mr. mueller, which means mr. prince will have a witness who will fully explain the nature of that conversation to the special counsel. >> right. and that meeting and of course what the purpose of it was, obviously, in january of 2017, middle of the indian ocean, you have prince and this russian fund adv

of those investigations than we will in the committee. candidly, they haven't turned into investigations. they've turned into campaigns from both parties and they really i think made a mess of the house intelligence committee that has very important responsibilities. maybe they should close it down. let these investigations happen and then at least when they're announced we'll have some credibility as to the conclusion of those investigations. >> i've got to ask you about this nunberg thing, all the interviews he's doing, been doing today because adam schiff is saying now that the house intel -- the panel needs to interview nunberg. do you think he's a difference here, could he possibly cause this investigation to go on a bit longer than what republicans may have wanted it to? >> he may have certainly caused that, but i saw something a little different as a former fbi guy. if erin burnett is right and i'm sure she was, that he smelled of alcohol, he was also taking medication, he talked about -- i think to me this guy was having a really bad day. and got out and just got ahead of himself. and so i think he's very impeachable now as a witness for whoever disagrees with what his position is, and i
