witnessed a lot of mismanagement inefficiency and outright abuse at the san francisco housing authority organization. i don't envy your clean up work because i've seen much of the bad stuff is engrained in the people that work there. you did the right thing by getting rid of the old board. my family was [inaudible] out of our affordable rental on treat street when real estate specklator purchased that building from the family that owned it for over 30 years. our old apartment literally [inaudible] placement. i had to argue and fight for over two years for or property manager to get a copy of my rental agreement. during that time i had to write letters and complain, but no one would give me a copy of my lease. i've written letters and made phone calls evident i have called my property manager and have caught some of his maintenance men illegally entering my apartment. >> thank you. next speaker please. >> my name is rene boyd and i live at 25 sanchez and i finally got into public housing after 20 years on the waiting list and they sent me a letter saying take it or leave it, so being homeless i took

the paper recently about some challenges at the housing authority, and thank you to mayor lee and to others for really focusing on moving the organization forward. but i think it's always important to keep in mind that, you know, as many challenges as the authority has, we still have a thriving community and we have lots of young people like you who are moving forward and are going to do great things in the community and in your lives. and, so, i think it's always important to keep focusing on the positive, about the amazing community that we have and we're going to turn this around and everything is going to go in a positive direction. you know, i also just want to congratulate the partner here to the housing authority, that is our school district. our public school system is so on the way up and, you know, it started with elementary schools, moving up to our middle schools, and the back bet -- i am now after the school sign-up letters went out, i'm happy to share this, getting people who are so mad that their kids didn't get into mission or balboa high school. organizations and the residents. the commission and i are committed to reforming the housing authority for the city. it is a strong operationally sound agency that improves the quality of life and safety for our residents. i'd like to briefly summarize where we are with the recommendations. i'll try to be brief because i want to let the residents have an opportunity to talk also. of the 43 recommendations, we' actually either completed or have underway 23 of those actions. for oversight, we created the personnel and finance committees and diversity committees and has been holding monthly meetings, improve program delivery by requiring presentation of detailed reports by sfha's staff on the /tpoeu than /-rbl condition, operations and compliance with hud performance measures. we are preparing to relocate meetings to city hall for public participation as soon as sfgovtv videotaping is available at hours that are con convenient to our residents. the times available now are 8:00 am and 6:00 pm which are not the most convenient times for our residentses. and also some funds, this will be additional cost t

specific as a mayors authority we are a organization with a long relationship with our neighborhood. we urge you to allocate a miles for the housing collaborative to provide support for the residents for the goal of improving living conditions for the residents. ask also for your support for the workers development. we are doing this work with the community for health and justice in district 11 where we're obtaining family supportive jobs. at the current level that's an additional 1 hundred $100,000 to allow the citywide collaborative to insure with san francisco remains a world-class city for servicess to the diverse residents. i wholeheartedly support the businesses for the city of san francisco. our workers deserve it and we deserve it. thank you >> i've been a member of the organization i live on ocean in the "x" sorry district. i'm here to advocate for children i think childhood is so precious and important. those children are the future of our community. they're the future members i want to say we need more funning i'm a student and i'm attending san francisco state university. i'm going to graduate next seminar. semester. i
