joining me right now, howie kurtz, host of media buzz, on fox news channel. always good to see you. in other media outlets. what do you think the media is missing once again about donald trump? >> well, we went through the premature obituaries several times during the primaries. i covered a lot of campaigns. never seen anything like this. trump made mistakes, no question about it. having trouble staying on message. people like paul ryan and john mccain criticizing him? absolutely. is he slipping in the polls? absolutely. one headline in the "daily beast" the race is all but over. straight journalists and commentators speculating whether he is crazy as well as mentally ill. republican leaders thinking about replacing him on ticket. this is adds up to kind of a anti-trump fervor i really never seen against even unpopular presidential candidates. trish: wow. my goodness, you even have some members of the media, trying to compare him to adolf hitler. that just goes to show you the extent which people are, effectively going, which you know, frankly is a real insult to all those who lost

howie kurtz joins me now with more. howie, i was wondering when they were going to start in on her. today apparently is the day. what do you think? is there anything here to this story, or does it just make for one sexy headline? >> well, ivanka is fair game for the press given her role with her father. but this story, i got to tell you, is as thin as hand-me-down lingerie. it's based on one complaint from an unnamed woman. it doesn't involve ivanka's own clothing company, which offers eight weeks of paid maternity leave and flexible hours for new parents. but a company whose work she licenses, which follows the law by the way, but offers 12 weeks of unpaid maternity leave. so is ivanka responsible for the personnel practices of everyone she does business with? i don't think so. >> apparently "the washington post" might think so. you say that she's fair game. i just wonder about that. i mean do we see the left coming out and attacking chelsea clinton for whatever issues she might have had along the way? i mean don't you think that there is a little bit of a bias or a reason for them
