hoyer: i thank the gentleman for yielding, who has been a dear friend of mine, as his father was, for a very long period of time. and we share in common a lot of things, but one of those things that we share in common is a great respect for richard trumka. a great appreciation for the leadership that richard trumka showed. not only in the labor movement but in our country as a citizen, representing our best values. and we share respect for the labor movement. richard trumka, madam speaker, walked with a weight of america's workers on his shoulders. but he wore that weight lightly in one sense and with a great sense of responsibility in another sense. he carried them with him always in his mind and in his soul. his life was devoted to the labor movement and to each and every worker, each and every worker who was part of the labor movement. his loss, in my view, is a grievous one for our country, and he leaves behind a legacy for which we can all be grateful. the men and women in labor, who have a better wage, better place to work, and greater security because of richard trumka. thanks

just before we got on the air, moments ago, the house majority leader steny hoyer announced that that vote in the full house will happen the day after thunderstorm, on thursday. if, as probably expected, the majority of the house votes in favor of holding steve bannon in contempt, what happens then is the matter gets referred to the justice department for inosecution.ro it will actually be up to the u.s. attorney in washington, d.c., to decide whether or not to bring a federal contempt prosecution again bannon. but the house will decide on thursday whether to recommend that, to refer that, essentially, to that prosecutor. if the prosecutor decides to bring a prosecution against pr bannon, that will not be the first time the justice department has prosecuted someone for defying a congressional subpoena, but it's a rare thing. it has been a while since this has happen. the last time the justice department indicted somebody in circumstances like this was 1983 when a reagan administration official refused to testify to congress about her management oa the epa's superfund sites. there were

something you have heard from treasury secretary janet yellen, from house democratic majority leader steny hoyeraid we don't onto have to deal with this battle. there are a couple of different options for how they could do it. democrats have talked about ideas such as minting a $1 trillion coin. they have passed legislation that would require the treasury secretary to be the one to continue to raise the debt limit. so there is a potential proposal out there, that they could raise the debt limit to some number they are never going to reach. alix: it is possible. how do they do it? what is the procedure? emily: that is a really good question because the thing is, it would be hard to get republicans to go along with a lot of those ideas, when republicans have really been able to successfully leverage these debates over the debt ceiling to get their own priorities through as well. i think that is why at this point, you're just talking about a simple raise of the debt limit. if democrats do that through this reconciliation process, that means they don't need republicans. they are limited in what they
