with that the hrc is proud of the community collaboratives we have already established to date to continue our efforts on implementing the findings and recommendations of the various diversity reports. we have with us today salina from the santa and juvenile criminal justice who will briefly comment on the school to prison pipeline, particularly the high criminalization of african-american girls in san francisco. i give you ms. salina tiji. >> hi, thank you very much for having me. as i was introduced, i worked for the center on juvenile and criminal justice. it is a nonprofit base in san francisco, we provide services, technical assistance and [speaker not understood] analysis. i know a there are a lot of people who can really speak to the educational gap a lot better than i can so i'm going to limit my comments to justice involved youth and really make the connection because it is important to think about this issue not in

hrc worked very hard on this, too. we came here to support a project that was 50 bmr's. if that is a technical glitch that we can fix, great. otherwise, it is a great project. on issues around design and parking and access, we do not have a position on the specific things. we defer to other organizations. but the affordable housing is important for all of us. i will put on my formal affordable housing had to say that when housing organizations saw this coming down the pike, we were very strong that that is not a pitting that we want. we should not be playing affordable housing versus bmr housing. this project is a great example of that solution. thank you. >> good evening, everyone. this is one of those times when having your office next to city hall pays off. i ran over here. we have been involved in this project and some movement towards affordable housing from very early on. we were able to work with the board of supervisors and also open house to help them revision the project as one that instead of being a market rate was 100% affordable. using public land for publi

just think there are all these factors that need to be explored more and i really do hope between the hrc and this committee we can begin to do more work to partner with the folks in the neighborhood who are most impacted. (applause) >> i'll just say some really, really quick comments because i know there is another item after this that's pretty significant. but i want to thank everyone for coming out. and i do agree with the what pastor harris said. it has to come from the bottom up. there has to be some will that come directly from the community. ultimately i think that in our school system, i think systemically there is still a lot of prejudice. i really believe there is still a lot of racism. i'm not calling anyone a racist. that's not what i'm implying. but i think sometimes there are lesser expectations of students of color and that then, especially when i'm listening to the statement that was read from coleman advocates, or that one student really feels that, you know, when a teacher tells you, well, you have to go to city college because i just don't think you have the whatever to
