i am cindy hsu. investigators are trying to figure out why plane heading to mcarthur airport plunged into the water off part jefferson. cbs2's valerie castro in laurelton, queens. >> reporter: well, cindy, the pilot was one of the three people to survive the crash. we haven't been able to speak to him at this. but tonight police and the coast guard have called off the search for the final passenger on board that plane. it was scheduled to land at mcarthur airport last night. despite an extensive search by both the coast guard and suffolk county police, a queens man remains missing after a plane crashed into the long island sound. the 18-hour search covered more than 90 square miles. it crashed saturday night into the harbor just after 11:00 p.m. police say a student pilot was behind the controls when they started having engine trouble. he turned the controls over to the instructor, who landed the plane in the harbor. police say all four got out of three were rescued by suffolk county police. >> suffo
