the reason why it's got this name, is is it's an area of low pressure that usually sits north of hudson bay, north of canada, but in this scenario, that arctic air has spilled south. this is the typical view on the radar. snow flying and rain heading up in the northeast, rain on the opposite side, but here's what you don't see, in the last 20 years or so. monday's high, monday's 20 in minneapolis, minus 12 in chicago and look how far south that air is plunging down towards new orleans. look at atlanta. 33. and this cold air will continue to head to new york. 45 tomorrow, but new york city looking at highs in and around new york in the teens on tuesday. so this cold air mass will take at least 48 to 72 hours to push off to the eastern sea board, this means all these cities with the wind and icy conditions lasting throughout the day, many more flight delays likely. a completely different scenario, perhaps now you'll better appreciate your temperatures. 50s and 60s outside. we'll talk more about our warm temperatures here and a chance of showers coming up in a few minutes. >> i appreciate them
