julia, what did you make about bob iger's answers about hulu. he said they may look at selling it to our parent company comcast. he's in a tricky position. if he takes it on, that's adding to disney's debt load. if he doesn't, he could lose an important platform anything you read into his comments >> it is, indeed, a tricky situation, deirdre, in part, because so many subscribers to disney plus also subscribe to the other streaming services, hulu or espn plus. there's this question of if you did get rid of hulu, how would you manage those subscribers who are also intertwined i think he's thinking very strategically here he's going to be very cautious and not jumping to make any plans. i think based on his comments, he doesn't yet know what he's going to do. he's in the process of figuring it out he's trying to figure out especially where this role of general entertainment fits in this disney streaming platform because, of course, the differentiated content is marvel, is lucas film, it's all those disney brands that are so iconic and nobody else

that's hulu.ou didn't get any questions on the call yesterday, but that could be a $9 billion bill to you if my parent company puts their interest to you as they are able to. if you were to buy that, that would take your leverage up significantly. some question whether that would be a good strategy how do you view it >> well, first of all, our leverage is not a huge concern to us right now. not the concern that others would suggest that it is that said, we are intent on, over time, reducing our debt >> well, you have a lot of fixed costs. you get up to leverage of four times, let's say, people do get concerned. you have a high fixed cost business >> i would imagine that would be at a time when our other business is starting to generate more free cash flow, and i would rather not get more specific about that because we're not really, you know -- we're not prepared to give any forward statements in that regard, for instance but look, i've talked about general entertainment being und undifferentiated

hulu.tion of that and i think that's a key issue that it's going to have to -- >> can we drill down on that idea so you -- it sounds like -- that's where i was going to go with this. it sounds like you're in favor of them selling hulu, then to me, there's two questions, if you're selling hulu, which -- what part of hulu are you actually selling are you selling what i would describe as hulu the shell, which is literally just the subscribers and some kind of multi-year license to certain types of content that's already on it, i'm thinking of fx and some of the stuff that came over from fox, or are you actually selling part of the content library plus potentially even studios with it? and that's a different game. >> it's complicated. it's further complicated by the fact that a lot of the subs that they have now are bundled subs between the three services, even taking espn and divisionally walling it off from other parts of the company, it is still highly dependent on its growth in terms of bun

about comcast and its prospects in streaming if it bought the rest of hulu?ing peacock and hulu together would certainly make the overall streaming effort far more formidable i could see why disney wouldn't want to do it if it wanted to block a competitor but i don't think it has the balance sheet or flexibility right now to use blocking a competitor as a reason not to pursue that transaction and i think disney for many reasons would do much better consolidating the programming of fx and fox. it's going to lose the nbc programming anyway put it together with the abc programming on disney plus disney plus needs to drive price. it has to drive the value proposition. it now has originals at one/sixth as many as netflix does rich greenfield has done terrific work showing how the buzzy hulu originals just get no viewing in the top ten weekly on streaming. 82% of minutes on streaming go to netflix and the top ten list every week 1% has gone to hulu. you dot to rectify that and the way to rectify it consolidate promotional efforts through a single entertainment chan
