brit hume has thoughts on the cain story.ood evening. >> we don't know the truth and we may never know. the case does illustrate the truth on the law in matters today. years ago, the board room employees were at a disadvantage subjected to unwanted sexual advances by the superiors. today they are at an equal or greater disadvantage. not only are unwanted advances against the law, but so is conduct that may be found intimidating hostile or offensive working environment. the problem is what is offensive to some may not be to others. compliments may be welcome to one person or give offense to another. it doesn't matter in thecation of herman cain whether there is any basis to sexual harassment. he was head of trade organization and baptist minister to boot. neither he or the administration could afford to have a false accusation made public against him. the resulting scandal would be damaging whatever the basis. big organizations regularly pay cash settlements in the cases to make it go away. that seems to be what happened here.
