hunter: it's a continuum. at one end, you have your regular maintenance that you do every day on the system, and at the other end, long-term planning so that every year we're repairing, replacing the right things, and we don't have to do it all at once, which is, quite frankly, what we're having to do in atlanta now. griffin: we have thousands of assets that we have to keep track of. we have to always know their condition and continuously plan for their refurbishment at the right time. one of the things we're required to do under the consent decree is inspect our system. we're trying to find where there's leaks. so we blow smoke into the sewer pipe. man: we're locating places where water from the surface to the ground is running into the sewer pipe and overloading the system. hunter: we have 1,600 miles of sewer. we are evaluating every linear foot of that system. is the pipe leaking; are you having a lot of infiltration or inflow? thornell: every time it rains, water will come down, go into the pipe, enter th

our product areas in district 10 are bayview hunters point, and the hunters point shipyard, basically. our biggest budget question this year -- if you have not been reading the newspaper -- is whether or not we will be around. the governor, as part of his budget in january, proposed the elimination of redevelopment agencies statewide. the current status right now in sacramento is that the governor does not have the 2/3 votes needed to actually move that proposal forward. there is rumor that the proposal may be redrafted in a way that will allow him to pursue a majority vote in the legislature. it is not clear as to whether or not the majority is there to eliminate redevelopment. that all being said, we are presenting a budget to mayor lee and the board of supervisors that assumes we are around. that budget has a few priorities when it comes to district 10. i'll go by project area. in visitation valley, you will have noticed probably by now that these locks and is not there. that is a redevelopment project area. we will be working this year to put together the agreements that will revi

this is as it is proposed to be reconfigured as part of the candlestick and hundreds part -- hunters park area. this provides a new street network and establishes a street hierarchy for the better st. planned, just recently adopted. this is a long with an open space and open free market, recognizing its adjacency to open space in including small, intimate, urban spaces to complement them. there is the establishment of new zoning guidelines. there are limits to development. it will do several things. it will be at a higher density than what is currently provided in the underlying zoning. number two, it will korea a mechanism that will korea a more typical street pattern. number three, it will assure that the streets will be accessible and approved, and then you need at the site, the zoning looks to deal with the rights of way, namely the new zoning would change the height to allow a range of heights including three residential towers. the kazakhstan site is currently zoned -- the existing site is currently zoned -- zop -- zoned c-2. the proposed would change this. it would allow this

most recently, we opened a center in bayview hunters point through a collaborative effort. as you are well aware, but you hunters point is probably the most toxic area in the city and county of san francisco. it is also the area that most low-income folks are moving to. in response to primarily the relocation of low-income families in the mission, we formed a collaborative and introduced a continuum of care facility, providing services to 34 children, all children of working, poor, low-income families. i am proud to say we are here this evening in support of the rebuild plans of cpmc, including the rebuild of st. luke's hospital. we are not here to tell cpmc how to work with community, but rather to say that we appreciate that cpmc knocked on our door when we first moved in to bayview hunters point and asked how they could assist in providing services directly to the bayview child health center, the only child facility in the bayview hunters point operated by cpmc. we are here again to say thank- you to cpmc. they are reaching out to low- income working people. we are here
