i am a native residents of bayview-hunters point. first of all, i would like for you to approve this particular project. i also served on the city commission in 1970 when this project first came aboard. we blessed it then. that particular time, we were representing some 65,000 people in the community, which was a part of visitation valley. our boundaries were from geneva, bay shore, all the way to highway 280. we represented some 65,000 people. we were voted and elected by people in our community. but the irving corporation came to us in the early 1970's and asked for our endorsement on this project, which we did. we got a lot of things from them -- we got a lot of thanks from them. to this day, the corporation has lived up to the agreement. they make sure that people in the community are working. the major people in the city are working. also have an opportunity that we have 35% of our contractors being a part of that project, which they have built up to. we also had the opportunity to have business opportunities in the project. so

our product areas in district 10 are bayview hunters point, and the hunters point shipyard, basically. our biggest budget question this year -- if you have not been reading the newspaper -- is whether or not we will be around. the governor, as part of his budget in january, proposed the elimination of redevelopment agencies statewide. the current status right now in sacramento is that the governor does not have the 2/3 votes needed to actually move that proposal forward. there is rumor that the proposal may be redrafted in a way that will allow him to pursue a majority vote in the legislature. it is not clear as to whether or not the majority is there to eliminate redevelopment. that all being said, we are presenting a budget to mayor lee and the board of supervisors that assumes we are around. that budget has a few priorities when it comes to district 10. i'll go by project area. in visitation valley, you will have noticed probably by now that these locks and is not there. that is a redevelopment project area. we will be working this year to put together the agreements that will revi

i am here today, representing the bayview/hunters point land use committee. supervisor cohen mentioned that we worked very tirelessly. i think the fundamental issues we found have still not been resolved. i think muni actually did not consider the t-line to be a dedicated line. hunters point spent months working with need to try to change that, and. -- with no need to try to change that. the fact that you are combining heavy usage, and you would have that, and again, it is not a coincidence. sooner or later, we will have the problems that we are having right now. you are pulling in and you are pulling alps -- pullng out, and it seems to me at some point they do not have the right of way. one of the problems come up when you are at the subway and to try to track the moment -- the movement, we are sitting there, and you can track the end and everything else. it is somewhere. it is no where. the only thing about the t-line -- at that point some of people are nowhere to be found. that needs to be corrected. a think when you look at the growth in the southeast --
