well, researchers at the fred hutchison cancer center have done what we call a second-look research studyked at all the women from ten and 20 years ago, looking at the effects of estrogen and the effects of cancer. they went back and looked at the health reports of over 10,700. every one of them had a hysterectomy, so they were taking estrogen after surgical removal of their uterus, and they only got estrogen. they followed these women for ten years. that's longer than the original women's health initiative. for younger women, 50hysterecom enormous benefits to their bones from taking the estrogen, and the same thing for their heart. and they enjoyed a decreased risk of cancer compared to women who didn't get the estrogen. now, the other end of the spectrum. for women 70 and older, they didn't enjoy the benefits to their bones and heart when they took the estrogen compared to the women who took it, and they had a much higher risk of developing cancer because they were taking the estrogen tablets. >> now let's talk about another study, this focusing on what happens when a woman discontinues

hutchison: i rise to speak in favor of senator mcconnell's production bill. the bill might be too much for some, too little for some. maybe it's not perfect. but we must take a step in the direction of adding production of our nation's natural resources if we are going to bring down the cost of gasoline, bring down the cost of fuel, bring down the cost of all of the elements that we have that are -- excuse me -- providing for our electricity, natural gas and other forms of -- of our electricity and climate control. so, mr. president, i hope that we can pass senator mcconnell's bill. oil is today slightly under $100 per barrel, and with the summer driving season approaching, we know that this could even go up. it's graduation season and people are driving to their graduation procedures, their graduation ceremonies, and they are having to pay these enormous prices of gasoline at the pump. over $4 in many places in our country. i recently read a story about a constituent going to college station for a texas a&m graduation, and he complained, rightfully, that he

i know that the begich and the hutchison bill would help in transparency that you're talking about. senator bingaman has a bill that would help. i hope that you would work with us on that. let me switch if i could for a second to another comment you made in the opening statement, you indicated there were three buckets the administration was looking at, oil, gas, renewables and alternative energy and efficiency as you may know, last week, legislation was introduced by senator shaheen and myself, energy savings and industrial competitives act, s. 1000 and it leverages deployment of energy technologies. also with regard to the federal government. we would love to get your input on that legislation and we hope to get your support on it. do you have any thoughts on that legislation today? >> i have not reviewed the legislation but i would be happy to do it along with my colleague secretary chu and the administration. it is a huge part of that bucket to get us to that energy future. in fact, part of the reason that we are using -- importing less than 50% of our oil from foreign countries

i also heard kay bailey hutchison who was looking closely at the idea of developing this nation aroundigration reform. i want to make sure that all of the viewers and listeners are very clear that this is a two- pronged approach. we need to have immigration policy and have immigration reform, but it is being coupled with border control and border security that this administration has taken very seriously so you have a lot more border agents, border task forces, a lot of infrastructure and technology. crime rates are down around the southwest borders in el paso and austin and a lot of other cities. they have 100% preview on anything that moves in or out of this country through the mexico/u.s. border. there is a lot but is being done around border control, and you also have a record number of deportation. if people are found to be convicted criminals or commit a crime, they are being taken out of the u.s., but we do have to remember who we are as a country, and what our dennises was, and that it is important to really look at this issue properly and with less fear and quite frankly less
