here on this special day the first day of school i'm proud to be serving on the school board with hydra mendosae one of the top performing schools in the state we have the blue ribbon schools and the california distinguished school that starts in the preschool level at the kindergarten level p is where the excellence begins and face champs as the reversed mentioned we have an opportunity with our disabled students we are addressing those champions and making this the best school year thank you to the mayor ed lee and the mid grade and making sure that our families choose our public schools first and i see behind us is the executive branch and all who help to make our schools great >> thank you dr. murase with that let's get on to learning and we look forward to many successes and thanks to the incredible staff for being great hosts thank you for welcoming us and thank you for being here.

acknowledge this is thank you to the school board members concluding vice president emily and hydra mendosa and joe as mentioned already there's 11 supervisors that have signed on those co-chairs i'm proud to have that support so i'll acknowledge them quickly. president chiu, supervisor tang. supervisor kim. supervisor david campos. supervisor mar. supervisor wiener. (clapping.) and i'll bet you they're all around somewhere but right now i want to bring up two supervisors that really worked hard with my office to put this altogether. their staff were incredible. and putting a lot of time and crafting something that is so strong that i believe its going to turn the tide around when it comes to children's staying in san francisco so let me bring up both supervisor avalos and supervisor kim to say a few words. supervisor avalos (clapping.) thank you, norman i want to say it's been a honor to work with you and helping to craft of the children family initiative that's not been easy but it's one that we set out to do together and really by who is here on the steps of city hall the foundation of t

superintendant and two school members that are working hard to make that happen reverend and that's hydra mendosa and emily who is also on the boards she serves as the director on the status of women we're all here together i see barbara carlson she and first 5 are working in the community with us but we have a lot of our members working together with our school district. long ago i believe it's going to get longer ago the unified school district had to struggle by itself they saw the state as their challenge and the city was not there with them we've learned a lot of through a lot of tragedies tragedies of failure and of not supporting each other and our hearten guarantee again to opening statements opening obama we're going our brothers keeper and make sure we succeed so the school district is not isolated, in fact, i think more and more you'll see those public-private partnerships that occur particularly with the school board the way their listening to the community and all of the exciting work we're doing with the corporate's and the city agencies working together with superintendant carr res
