cofi bonner, chris boskin, ron conway, hydra mendoza, mr. carmen policy and of course the lovely lauren dove, and david singer. i just want to acknowledge you for your profound work. thank you very much. and a special note to mr. fred blackwell. sir, thank you. without the head of the redevelopment agency, without the leadership of our redevelopment commissioners, this city would be in probably a perilous state. would you agree? we need every single leader we have and i look forward to cultivating new talent to come back and continue to serve san francisco because that is exactly why we're here. i started my public service journey when i was 8 years old. 8 years old, i met the then dine feinstein who was mayor and she took the moment to talk about the importance of public service and it was in a brief two-minute exchange that she planted a seed in me that has come to bear fruit which is why i'm here today. ever since i was in the third grade, i've been walking down this path of public service. so to my future senators and business men and wo

[applause] without the work that you do, mayor lee, john avalos, hydra mendoza -- we would not have ideas about how to improve public safety, how to improve our schools, or i do not think any of us would have thought about the importance of providing free muni you have shown tremendous leadership. you represent the diversity of san francisco. you represent our neighborhoods and every corner of our city. you inspire us. when you are able to come together, it signals to us, the adults of city hall, that we also have to come together. we have to work together. she is excited as well. [laughter] i want to tell you to keep on fighting and in part in the wisdom -- imparting wisdom you can see through your eyes as we're deliberating here. i look forward sunday to working on the campaigns of some of you here -- someday to working on the campaigns of some of you here. i look forward to working with you as you head up our city departments, non-profits, companies, and this great city of san francisco. thank you and congratulations. [laughter] i have to tell you, on behalf of the school board, and i know that hydra mendoza and the school board members are here -- i really want to say thank you. we have the privilege in our beautiful school district to serve 56,000 students. you're sort of going to go and thank all the different groups that got here because it really was an effort by everybody, but i'd want to 0.1 thing out, and that is this project has been long coming. i have to tell you, i think why it finally happened is because everybody, all those names that people have rattled off -- the mayor and everybody else -- i have to tell you, the thing that brought us together is that all those people, including the school district, all of us -- we left our egos at the door and said this is more important than anybody's ego because this is about a community, not about individuals. it is about all the folks who actually live here. we come here and make some speeches, but we are going to leave. it is about the people who are going to stay. if we can build this community to be successful, the hours -- and our future will b
