what the jury determined for nicholas luerkens who fatally stabbed his ex-girlfriend in the marion hyvee parking lot. the murder conviction will put luerkens in prison for the rest of his life. he'll be in court for sentencing on january eighth. the 33 year old luerkens ambushed his former girl friend, 29 year old lynnsey donald last april as she walked out of the marion hyvee store. testimony showed that he tried to contact donald numerous times before the attack, and he even wrote "kill lynnsey" on a to-do list in his journal. luerkens' defense never denied that he killed lynnsey donald. but it claimed he had overdosed on anti- depressants at the time, and that affected his judgment. the judge tossed out the insanity option before jurors started deliberating friday afternoon. the defense asked the jury, at most, to find luerkens guilty of a lesser charge because of diminished mental capacity. kcrg t-v nine's dave franzman joins us live from the linn county courthouse. dave, how unique was some of the evidence against luerkens? bruce, the linn county attorney couldn't
