i think first just to quantify it. if you look at the consensus earnings estimate over the next year for the energy sector in m sci or world, it is for a decline in energy sector companyse to 40%. as expectations are as bad you could probably guess. -40%,t that background of for u.s. energy companies the consensus is that earnings are going to decline by over 65%. so, a major setback for the energy sector. why do we have oil prices where we are? obviously, last week we had that extreme. wti was trading down at -$40 a barrel. i think obviously a number of factors. the first is the lack of storage. whether that is in pipelines or storage tanks or supertankers. i think it is quite interesting that supertanker rental rates are very elevated indeed. there is the scramble for storage when there is still too much surplus supply. factor is this drop in demand in april and may. brought estimates are the demand has probably fallen by over 20 billion barrels per day. that is why the opec-plus areement and i would call it tentative agreement with g20 on cutting back or curbing production. it obviously was inadequate. in addition, you also have to look at the selling of oil future
