i was able to identify midlevel managers who were women. they were all there for many years, but they just were not invited to become part of management in an open way. i'm here to say to you that a lot of fire successes -- a lot of our successes reflect efforts made in the past. i do not think they were too difficult to make one to focus on them. a lot of that also had to do with the enthusiasm that the city has brought to making those goals are real. a lot of that enthusiasm came from the women's summits in san francisco. the one that i remember i did not even get a ticket to because it was so crowded. it's the one mayer brown introduced to the city when he revived the mayor's some -- when he revived the women's summit. i knew there would be a lot of things that came out of that. those of you in those days, you were fighting for those tickets. i just gave up and said what do i have to do. as we looked at the videotapes and the press events that followed, we were blessed with a lot of great insights. the encouragement from women of interna

i have not been able to buy a fast pass for my son for this month. the reason i have not been able to afford a fast pass is i live in public housing and have an older son who works. my rent right now is almost $1,300 a month. when not to ask that you pass these free fast passes. we are tired of empty promises. it is really important that our actions speak louder than promises. i think it is important that we think about the students that are not just in public schools, but private schools. a lot of them are low income. they have gotten scholarships to attend these schools. there are a lot of people who have more resources, and the cannot imagine what poverty is really like when you cannot even buy a gallon of milk. it is really important that we get these fast passes. our use of getting punished. police are ticketing them. they are causing students to miss school. they are ticket and parents. there is not that consciousness about what is making it so people cannot pay, so that students miss school, and what we can do to prevent these things from happe

[speaking spanish] they have been on the bench the last year-and-a-half. eight years to have 22 janitors. it is now down to only three and a half janitors. at one south van ness, we are in a huge fight. yesterday, we completed our 60 days of being there on the line. i have not seen an uproar of people about how so many families are becoming unemployed. when bank of america laid off 22 of our janitors, there was not a hearing on it. in 39 the market lost 17 janitors. there was not a hearing about it. our supervisor was not doing anything about it. i'm here because
