i am going to speak on one particular issue. the issue i have been working non mostly concerns the connectivity of the project. it is very important to us. that block has been the isolated block of haight street. it has been problematic at times. it is important to the community. in this regard, the developer has gotten it right. they have provided a fairly direct connection to haight street right now. there are two issues that need to be addressed. public space is identified, but it does not be, -- it is not visible, it is not really publicly a sensible. it is important that the tills be worked out in terms of doorways, signage, that this connection be made very visible. i am disappointed when i read the amended resolution that there is no reference to this in the resolution. this is extremely important and it needs to be directly memorialized by the commission. i would ask that language be included to do so. for example, it is page 6 of the resolution, there is a reference to the connection to

thank goodness, because now i am secretary of labor. i have high school counselors who said i was not college material. just think, if i let that person hold me back. i had other people encouraging me, people that were not even family members. that was a life changer, for me to be exposed to these kind of efforts, which have a very important structured approach to how we can make things better in our communities and our neighborhoods, and help young people, to give them hope and inspiration, and help to give back. that is something i think all of us are gaining from this experience. we have taken this whole program, the summer youth initiative, to a new level. we have over 100 corporations. we have mayors across the country that have come on board, even the mayor of los angeles. also in philadelphia, detroit. they are all coming in with their own sense of, "my goal is 5000 jobs." i bet we can still get more mares to jump on board. so we are not done. we still have more to do. the fact that we can set this up through the department of lab

i am new to this commission. what i know i get from newspapers or reports from people who are watching videos of things that happened. i am concerned because i think that the -- any actions you might contemplate today might should be held off because of the -- i have to jump back to the situation that i think preceded the dismissal of the sunshine task force members. i believe they were dismissed because they criticized the members of the board who were responsible for an action that involved a friend of mine, cathy link. when she spoke out of order at the relevant board of supervisors meeting. she was forcibly removed unjustifiably. she was held out -- she then came back in the room to get her backpack. but that's when she had her arm twisted behind her back. forced out of room. handcuffed and held downstairs here for half an hour. and had the good fortune of being spoken for chair hennessey's assistant. who i can't think of their name now, otherwise would be taken downtown. the persons in charge of that meeting

i am not sure there is a solution that is easy certainly. and that is that the sunshine ordinance refers in various parts to information. and the best example i can imagine is for example the library commission meets and has for years on the first and third thursday of the month with small exceptions in the summer and winter. they set their schedule of meetings in december for the following year. if someone comes at the end of november and says, when is the january meeting of the library commission? there may not be any document that tells when it's going to be. but the practice [buzzer] and these people may want to make plans. there may be very clear information perhaps in the heads of everyone working on it. and in the history memory of people. they also skip the first january and go to the second. for example, or skip the second december meeting or old the first meeting. that is information that is not necessarily written on a public record. it could be stated that's likely to be passed.
