as am i. i think it is the lines we are accustomed to saying how we assign blame. >> i will allow you to go last because i know you have a lot to say. how about yourself? >> this is a terrible thing to think that muslims have to have some kind of test of loyalty, which i think this is. it is a long, shameful tradition in this country and other countries, where groups who are at a particular moment viewed with fear or looked down on and are made to express their loyalty and some kind of form. it is just a sad history to this. if you look at the immigration policies that the united states -- of the united states over the past couple hundred years, this has been an enduring theme. anytime the country gets frightened about something, feels threatened, immediately you go after the centers. -- after dissenters. freedom of speech is built around laws trying to censor and stop people who have minority views that people do not like. coupled with that is always antagonism toward immigrant groups. it is

and i am sure they were disappointed. i know they were. but more than they were sad they were promised us normalcy that wasn't delivered on. i am so happy we had parents that allowed us to make mistakes. imagine if we were perfect, life would be boring. >> i don't think we could do it. >> it would be too much pressure to be these political daughters to never made a mistake. also as a mom of two little girls, i am so thankful my dad allowed us to make mistakes and be free humans and learn about empathy and caring and how if we care we could bring light to it. i am not sure we were told to be this one particular thing and i could be a mother of my own girls not understanding it is oklahoma to mess up. >> speaking of mothers, you write laura bush was the family's closeted hippie. >> our mom loves music, she loves reggae. we have a number of experiences with our mom going to hear great music starting in first grade. paul simon was an tour for grace land and my mom took us with her but we were about this tall and stood on the concrete and i wil

i reflect on what i am doing. every time i have a discussion with my colleagues and something does not go the way i wanted to, i go back and rethink it and figure out what i did wrong, and then i try a different approach the next time. and if i address something that people don't like and i have to make changes, i think about what they are telling me and what i did and i tried to go back and avoid that next time. it is not a perfect process, learning is in incremental process of trying to better yourself step-by-step, inch by inch, and for me, it is really worked. i expect it will continue working as a justice. as i've found more and more of my own voice, my own sense of what is important to me -- you know, we get cases from around the country. there are 8500 cases that come through the court in petitions for review of a decision below, so we get 8500 of those petitions. -- we are onlyr hearing about 60-70 a year. we probably could hear more, but even if we heard more, it's not going to be anywhere close to those 8

[laughter] no, i think i am. they check to minimize your reality oregon they just projected a narrative that is full of assumptions so i just want to end back and say this is not the truth. as i wrote the book i found myself taking a hard look at myself and the choices i have made over the years and how once i am as fixed as i'm ever going to be i was comfortable in a certain way of being and it was all a new site that was useful in being able to articulate th that. >> i know that you make sure you can accommodate different kind of bodies and that is something a lot of people think about. >> i ask a venue if they have seats available with no arms for people who can't fit in those seats but nobody thinks about that. anybody beyond that shouldn't leave the house and i do think accessibility is important and i would ask they have accessible seating for everyone and we will see how it goes. >> we see the statistics the fashion industry doesn't cater to the body size of women. there is a resistance to accepting the rea

they are composed of, i am always on time at work. i like poetry. i don't care about abstract ideas. i had this data set of facebook likes were basically people who don't like or -- i abstract ideas, i don't like to read. why would we even asked people these questions if we can just go to their facebook profile, look at their likes, and fill in the questionnaire for them. i started running those simple machine learning models that would take your facebook likes and try to predict what would be her personality score. this worked really well, which actually was pretty disappointing for me. i spent so much time developing questionnaires. now a computer can do the same thing in a fraction of a second. we had other data in our data set. ok, we can predict personality. i wonder if we can predict political views. whether your parents were divorced or not. each time we asked the question, the computer with think and said, of course we can commit it is amazing. -- predict this. it is amazing. rerun the models with independent data, thinking i must be doing s

i am not against those struggles. i think they don't go deep enough to actually fundamentally change things. nicco mele: all right, i am going to just ask you a couple of closing questions. i wonder what are you most first worried about right now? bhaskar sunkara: besides the fact trump is president? [laughter] bhaskar sunkara: well, i am most worried the democrats initially drew some lessons it seems from the election. you see this even, chuck schumer is a good bellwether because this guy has like a total opportunistic -- to the point he cozied up to people like bernie sanders right after the election. i think if we had a socialist revolution, chuck schumer would join us. just because he just wants the cameras and we have the cameras pointed at us, he will join us. [laughter] bhaskar sunkara: but now he seems to be backtracking that nobody is talking about russia, talking about like the cia, the last bastion since a democracy. it is beautiful. i'm worried drifting away from this initial idea that the democrats were no

i am not going to own it. i can tell you the republicans are not going to own it. >> trump made those comments after three republican senators came out and said they oppose the latest senate plan. keep in mind, the house has voted more than 50 times to repeal obamacare, and the senate passed legislation in 2015 to repeal. but when faced with the tricky aspect of selling health care reform to their own members and constituents, they came up short. let's get to our reporters covering the new developments. kasie hunt with us on capitol hill. kristen welker at the white house and eli stokols and politico susan glasser. kasie hunt, first to you at capitol hill. what is mcconnell's sort of last-ditch effort to salvage any sort of -- i can't even use the word "win" but to salvage anything out of this bust? >> salvage something, yeah. it looks -- there was a very contentious lunch here this afternoon where there was a lot of disagreement and argument about whether or not they should have a vote on this repeal-only plan

i am shocked, i am saddened and i am sorry. this report rams home some cold, hard, brutaltruths.y children failed by too many people. and it highlights the so—called jersey way. and yes, the so—called jersey way. and yes, the report warns that some children in ourcare may the report warns that some children in our care may still be at risk. i will not rest until we have done all that we can do to change that. i accept that we can do to change that. i a cce pt every that we can do to change that. i accept every recommendation and pledge to build a new culture. one which puts children first every time. where one child failed, is one too many. one which is open to all ideas and expertise. where ever they come from. while she enquiry has been working, we have not stop. we have made additional resources available, embarked on a major programme of service improvement, and enhanced our ability to work together across different services. but we know that we still need to do much more. we need to do better and we will. people have been let down. and i am sorry for that. children should ne
