i definitely have practiced and i firmly believe that all clubs play a role in our part of the neighborhood. a have to be responsible, good citizens, participate with neighborhood organizations, and follow through on their word. i believe i have done that in my past, so i will leave it at that. i would also like to say i think there are a lot of great candidates. supervisor mar: i think there was a shooting at kokomo recently, and i think it was more rented out four and a fat -- for an event. what would you bring to the entertainment commission to deal with holding clubs accountable for violence or promoters as well, to counter the violence? >> personally, i think my perspective has been controversial because as an outside promoter as a youth, i feel that clubs do not have a right to just hand over their permitting, their liquor license to an outside promoter who is not to be held accountable. i think outside promoters have to be held accountable. having said that, having done a lot of youth activist work in my 20's, i firmly believe this city has a right to provide a places of entertainmen

i know the current members of the board and worked with them over the years. as they have said and i will say, it is very important that the residents who are currently there in treasure island are able to stay there. i would support policies that would provide opportunities for them to stay there during the development of new housing, making sure that's other housing is developed before we take down the existing housing so they can continue to live on the island and be able to participate in this new neighborhood. i know that there is a very successful collaborative of nonprofit organizations. i know many of them. i look forward to working with them. a lot of the work has been done in terms of building the community-based and the community concepts to move forward with treasure island. as i said, i would like to be able to use whatever experience i have in community development and affordable housing development to make a contribution on the treasure island development authority. i thank you for your consideration and the opportunity to speak here today. supervisor campos

[cheers and applause] that is the only regret i might add. have. i take great pride in the public office i have served. when i went in with the election in 1992, water to create greater stability and common ground and greater results for the people of arkansas, particularly in the first district ban and in 1998, in the senate. i want people to come together and work hard to make our country strong. i want to make their state strong and i worked hard in reaching out to others to find that middle ground, to be that common sense, and to try to make our nation great. i still don't believe that the answer cannot be in the extreme. they have to be in the middle. they have to be where we work together to find a solution that we need. i would list the agreement that we have come up with, and i would like to talk about the enormous amountof work that was done on behalf of the neighbors in the neighborhood. because without the leadership we never would have come this far. we have agreed for a 15-foot setback on the floor, to mitigate the shadows going on the northern side of this overshadowing -- this is overshadowing the firehouse that is there and the other properties. this will bring the shadows down to the equivalent of a 50-foot building. this will provide some relief. we also have the full bmr for the units, and there is -- that is the fraction that will be paid into the fund. we also wished for and received two car shares, or a couple of cars and the benefit of having public meeting space and retail space, except that we are not yet least. this is a very difficult negotiation and many people are disappointed and many people are relieved. some members of the public are here to speak to you today, and i appreciate them coming here and wanting their voices to be heard. these voices should be heard, and hopefully the

i do have a couple of questions i wanted to ask you. what do you see are the challenges facing the redevelopment agency going forward? >> obviously, in our economy right now, there is a lot of resources that are required to be able to implement change, and when you look at affordable housing development in the city, particularly near redevelopment project areas, financing to be able to bring projects to fruition are pretty difficult at this time, so i think being able to identify the needs of the community and being able to bring all the stakeholders together to determine what is the best need for that particular area, and identifying both the local, regional, and public sector resources and masking that with private sector resources to be able to make those projects happen. i say that particularly around affordable housing, but i think it is also pertinent to being able to look at developing commercial corridors and attract businesses in some of our most difficult neighborhoods in the city. supervisor campos: i'm glad you underscore th
