i just have to say coming to represent our city, i think one of the highlights is meeting so many dedicated, smart, and passionate city public servants that defy the stereo type of the government bureaucrat that doesn't care that's just checking in for their paycheck. you're not only someone that works incredibly hard, you're passionate, you're proactive. i just want to thank you for proactively always reaching out to all of our offices to demand and expect better ordinances and legislation that can help us in our work to really protect the people that need it the most, our residents. we want to make sure that all of our residents live in safe and habitable housing. housing alone is not enough, and without the work of your leadership, and the entire department at d.b.i. and our team -- your team, we would not be able to do the incredible work that i'm so proud the city and county of san francisco does. so thank you for your 32 years of work. you can stay longer. you can if you change your mind, but i do want to give my colleagues an opportunity to say a few words as well. >> president breed

otherwise, it's just based on feelings and emotion. and i -- that is just not enough. and i haven't heard enough of a compelling reason to feel like 250 -- an additional 250 officers will stoll problem. i'm of the school of thought that throwing more police at a problem doesn't solve a problem. and quite honestly, we have stuff instances and examples of where officers that we do have have been involved in shootings that have hurt people and killed them. and it goes back to training. so we'll have more officers but we haven't had one modicum of discussion on how to increase our training program. we haven't had any discussion or policy around our community partnerships. we haven't had any conversation around -- we had a little bit of conversation around staffing levels due to the budget allocation that supervisor yee put forward last year. but it's just a round number. 250 officers has been requested. over a four-year implementation plan. this is where my struggle is. i want to clean up the record that 100 sworn hires replaced with 50 civilians is not a one for one replac

i just wanted to thank chair cohen and the rest of the committee for all their hard work on this very beautiful and democratic process that we are in a san francisco. i know, particularly president cohen is working really hard to make it more inclusive. that's been really wonderful. and transparent, and all of that. i wanted to quickly talk about one particular need to, that is around homeless families. they have very few options off the streets in our current system. except for short-term subsidies where they move out of town. one of the hespa asks is a deep subsidy to keep the san francisco families that are homeless in san francisco. it is really small. it is just for 12 more families. it is families that have medical situations. one of the family has a kid getting a kidney transplant. kids with special needs, and so forth. thank you so much. >> supervisor cohen: thank you. next speaker. >> good morning supervisors. i am with this jaunty project and speaking on behalf of the community providers supporting women with cancer in the city. as we have received information. we are on the
