i am ralph and i live with my wife in woodside. i am here to ask you to vote no on this ban on nudity and i don't go to jane warner plaza myself but i support those that do. there is no property damage. there is no logical argument for the proposed ban and it comes down to one phrase "it's disgusting". i will remind you that beauty and disgust is in the eye of the beholder and what comes next. many consider obesity disgusting and ban that and our constitution is built on individual's rights and pursuit to happiness. many laws have been passed by the majority over years and ultimately based on bigotry and disgust and gay marriage and sodomy and many more. every time one of the laws is tested in court it has been eventually over turned. the same thing would happen here. it hurts no one. let's not pass it just because a few people find it disgusting. san francisco is about individual's rights and people come to the city to be who they are without concerns of bigging on tree and scorn. nudity is one more freedom that san francisco has c

i lived here for 30 years. i do live in district eight. we have very regressive legislature here proposed by mr. weerner that is more for show than anything else. nude people are not causing a problem. they're only expressing themselves. i have not experienced one act of lewdness there. if that's what you see then it's in your own head. as far as sitting in the seat and spreading your legs, called flaunting. it's actually being comfortable. if you take perspective on the issue, you look at the middle east where women are made to cover up and you look at europe where there are public nude spaces. indeed in parts of germany there are parts that are set aside for nudists. there is a river there and ride down the rubber tubes and at the end they get on the bus to ride down the river again, so this is part of our puritanical moral heritage that causes nudity to be a problem and it's a problem in the people's own mind. i walk down the street all the time and see something that i don't like to look at but it's part of life. i voted for supervisor

but when i moved into hayes valley, you couldn't pay to live that neighborhood. you couldn't get cable companies to put cable in because it wasn't densely enough populated. since i've been there, i didn't do a powerpoint, this is all-new residential. there's a lot of new residential coming in. and i know that there was a hearing on this in june. it kind of went into my radar when i read bought new developments going in blocks away from me. about a month ago they cut all these trees down to build the condos, future units at grove and goff. if you've ever gone by the farm area, it in itself is an urban oasis and i understand economic development, you know, i feel affordable housing is an oxymoron in this town. anything is driven p by that. i think in the short term gain as compared to long-term benefits, you know, it would be nice if that could be a public park. if you go all the way to the bay and come down this way to the corridor, there are numerous big parks. this lot is half that size, but these trees are irreplacable. and i know for instance, i know randal pin

i have lived in the castro for 21 years. i have been a activist for years and 61 years old and i mention that because i remember a time when there were controversies about gay men and drag queens gathering in public spaces because people were offended by gay men who were drag queens in public spaces, offended and some of the things that are said here it was said about us and i was one those were offended by. they were offended by the sight of me in woman's clothing so pardon me for not feeling sympathetic and i was the object of that when i came out and also in san francisco i remember a time when we tried to set up shelters for homeless youth in the castro and i was involved with that and people at the meetings said the same thing. they were offended by homeless queer youth. business people said it was driving away business that our youth was homeless and no one was doing anything because they had no where to go. these are the same arguments. this really bothered me and someone that has given 42 years of my life to the commu

i live at the hotel on -- and have lived there for 9 years. i have been a tenant organizer for the last three years; recently i am the disaster preparedness organizer for central city. for the 22 odd years in sros, one thing that has always bothered me is that people with disabilities and seniors are on every single floor of the hotels.
