if i might, colleagues, i want to go to mr. robinson, because, does or does not noaa have a protocol to evaluate the safety of seafood? >> yes, ma'am, we do. the first step we take is very conservative with regard to the fisheries closures. we look for any visible evidence of oil, and we project whether the oil may go in the next couple of days, and so the first strategy is to limit the possible take of fish from any areas that have been impacted by the oil. the next thing that we do in partnership with other federal colleagues at fda, epa and the states is that we develop a fairly comprehensive seafood safety protocol. we have actually taken samples from the gulf area to analyze them not only for oil, but for some of thestituents of oil, and the polysaccharides that i mentioned earlier that are toxic to human beings. thus far, we have not found any evidence of these contaminants in any of the species that we have taken outside of the contaminated area. so, so this is a fairly comprehensive set of protocols that we have done, a

to clarify because i do think there are people in the catholic church, parishioners, and if they understood what was going on right now with children's village in particular, they might find umbrage with it. i think these are important conversations for us to be having. frankly when you are looking at -- this is one example that has led us down this particular path. but when you look at examples like children's village where you have 120 families from all different types of economic settings in san francisco, it is a melting pot of sorts. it is what the catholic church is about, bringing all different types of people together to help them, you know, raise their children and their families in a healthy and safe environment. >> and that's why we feel so strongly about the child care centers that we do have, that we want to keep them active because it really does do a service to the community and especially to our families. the thousands of families that we have in our parishes that we want to keep here in san francisco. >> thank you. chair maxwell: next speaker, please. >> thank you for talking with me today. my name is lisa finamore. i am a parent. i put my first chil

i might be biased, but i think is better now than it was a few years ago. we are doing that on a more efficient basis then we did before. i do not think it is always about the tonnage, but it is about the quality. i think we are doing a great job with the resources we have today. >> you are in the broadcast field. you teach radio and television at san francisco state. as well, major cutbacks in the broadcasting industry. how has that affected coverage? >> it is interesting. i'm going to answer the question, but i want to go back to what you started with. a changing landscape in which we have higher technology and lower budgets. i think that this means for students graduating with degrees in radio and television is a job opportunity. because a lot of radio and tv stations have cut back dramatically, they are hiring younger talent. that is good for young people on the one hand. >> not so good for people our age. >> no, unfortunately. i think we are seeing that shift in generations happening rapidly. there are quite a few -- both radio and tv -- i am thinking

supervisor chu: if i might, it looks like we are responsible for responding to item 1, finding 4, 5, 6, recommendations 4, 5, and 6. >> we have two ada transition planned. one is for the city office buildings, the other is the public right away. what they refer to is sidewalks and curb ramps. there is an enormous amount of work that is estimated to be done in this area. $500 million was, at what point one pointm, the amount that was cited. we have made quite a bit of progress and we have been able to count some of the progress that had not been counted before. that estimate is not entirely correct. it is much closer to $120 million, $150 billion for curb ramps, another $100 million for sidewalks. it is recommended we look at stable funding for this work. we have tried to get on the money several times over the last 10 years and those efforts have not succeeded, so much of that money comes from the general fund, but not all. we have had federal projects including sidewalks, curb ramps, paving, when they get non-general dollars, include to curb ramps as well. the main response we have
