i was always attracted by different beauty that i saw everywhere. i remember some movies called guess who's coming to have dinner tonight with sydney party. i remember i said to my parents -- i was 12. if i come with a black girl, what will you say? and they say, if you love her, that is perfect for you. years after when it told them what i could say about the fact was going with a guy, they said if you love each other, that is wonderful. so i think i was lucky to have parents like that. very modern. very open-minded. unlike for some, there's no question of religion, of color of skin, or anything like that. people can be all beautiful. it depends on who they are, but it is not a question of color. for me, both of us were beautiful. and i loved color. color of the skin. tattoo on the skin, which is a kind of color. some blue colors that you add. and i wanted to show that. when i started, i remember that there were some beautiful girls. they're beautiful. but i felt like, ok, but there is also beauty. i have a girlfriend which was modeling for me that

i basically saw people with their legs blown off. i saw a woman with her foot missing. i saw blood. i saw a young boy being carried away by a police officer. he had blood all over his face, he wasn't moving. we're finding out there's an 8-year-old. i don't know if that was the case, but i did see a young boy with blood all over his face being carried away. i was only there for a few minutes before we realized we had to move the car. we weren't sure if there was another explosion. that was going to follow it. so we went to move the car also to allow other people coming out of the parking garage because we were blocking the way. then we weren't able to get back to the scene right away. that's why i wasn't able to be there any longer than that. that experience i had was horrific, to say the least. we took a picture and video and were able to get it right away. and to see it right away. i think i had a view that fortunately and unfortunately, a lot of reporters didn't see and something i'll never forget. i think i still haven't completely processed. >> i'm wondering, when you got out of

three things i saw were things we could work on. the idea of a common lexicon, we in the city, we will call say sar chavez street army street and back and forth. if you are not from san francisco and you are coming from somewhere else, as many of the folks were, they didn't necessarily know what we were talking about there. we're moving through our language, moving tlau our acronyms. it would have been very simple for me to come with a one pager even dealing with the slang, drop that on the table connected with the cop so everyone knew what was going on. that would have been helpful. that was the first one where i saw an area where we could do some good work. the second is typing, the concept of when i unload a front end loader that i also include what personnel will be with that equipment. we call it typing, many of you know the same thing, you know about it. the military came with all their equipment typed perfectly and it came to us right there. we didn't have that. i'm being very candid with all of you. we didn't have that comin
