i divided each soldiers shifting to five -- five-mile stretch. wendy, my wife, volunteered to be the first one and i was excited for to join. it was the first reenactment should see me do it and after year of leaving -- leaving town, time and space i was happy to share some of my experience with her. during this two months i read a number of books on the missions but was surprised to find one my favorite factoid for reading a children's book. apparently at one point rats had infiltrated the san fernando gregory peck to get rid of them the friars bart catchings and gabriel. when i read i decide to incorporate the episode into my walk as a sort of objective for my character. you know, just in case somebody asked me what i was up to. a day after i read this wendy and i headed to towards her us were i bought a small stuffed black and white cat. afternoon comes the logistics i started assembling my kid. for reenactors this is the most important step. if you don't look good and authentic gear, then really, what's the point? while the hard-core reenactor woul

i couldn't think of a better individual to take on those responsibilities than wendy. i was right, and wendy has been a great, great help with those difficult issues ever since. she did so well, in fact, that i didn't hesitate to expand her responsibilities to include defense, veterans affairs, transportation and the judiciary committee's agenda when the opportunity presented itself. wendy has worked on so many issues of importance over the years -- defense, with a focus on the united states air force and missile communities, helping to start the air force caucus, veterans' health, united nations reform, cuba travel, immigration and gun rights, to name a few. she is now my senior legislative assistant, a title and post she has earned with her hard work and determination to make a difference. as my senior legislative assistant, she has been a captain in the legislative office and she has always made herself available to help guide and direct our efforts as a legislative team. she is also there to provide some good advice on the issues that are coming up and how we can be

. >> tal, can you respond to marty's point and wendy's? >> i can say just based on my experience in dealing with individuals who have drug problems, most of the time i don't think that the threat of a quote, unquote, felony conviction is going to necessarily prevent them from using. i think what would make more sense is to provide them with more services and to be more individualized in terms of treatment and how we address specific individuals. i also would note that when you are facing a misdemeanor charge, you're facing up to a year in county jail. now, sometimes you don't do a year in county jail because of changes that we've made to good time credits, but there is a threat potentially of incarceration that's attached to a misdemeanor conviction. so i think that's threatened us, if you're really looking for hammers and nails, why not just have a threat of a misdemeanor, period, of incarceration. the other thing i would say is that the respect trend has actually has been to implement shorter periods of flash incarceration so you actually pro
