i would just like to say that i am just honored to be receiving this award. it caught me by surprise, and honestly, it brought me to tears because i just honestly felt that in the event that somebody saw something happening to me that they would call and try to get help for me. and being that this man was being assaulted and just so brutally, it was just hurtful for me to just watch it as it unfolded. you know, as it began, and i drive the 37 line and i have regular amount of we set to accomplish three gonzales. one, to right side the service while minmizing inconveniences for our customers. two, to reduce overtime and three, reduce fuel and maintenance costs through operating fewer miles. we were encouraged by the results. we were able to provide 97.5% of service during that week. that represents a 3% increase from the same time period the previous year. we reduced operating time by $20,000 overall. we reduced mileage on our bus fleet by 10,000 miles per day. this results in maintenance and fuel savings of $51,000 per day or more than $2',000 in total mainte

i would like to share a few quick reflections. i remember when alice fong yu didn't have enough student and we had to sell the program. and now we don't have to sell the program, in fact we are all sold out. i remember when students went to chinatown to practice the skills and the culture. and now students travel to china to speak the language and live the culture. and none of this it would be without liana szeto. i remember her tireless way to be sure of this success. and determined and still has tireless energy and still have the vision. only now she needs to see it in a slightly larger font. i am -- [laughter] i was going to take that out, but my staff said to keep it in. i am so honored to be a part of alice fong yu's past and present. and look forward to the future. many thanks to the students, parent and staff to make alice fong yu such an awesome place. i speak for all of us, truly no place we would rather be. congratulations to the afy school community and to liana szeto, our fearless leader forever. thank you. i would like to share with you briefly the history of this award. i think it brings more meaning to what we are doing for teac r teache teachers. the carlson family began a company in the late 70s. and they took 5% of their profits and encouraged their employees to go out and work for not-for-profit in the bay area. and they could come back and ask for grants in support of their charity of choice. in the 90s. the company became a product of a hostile take-over but did not lose the endowment. and the family got together and said what do we do with this money. and they said let's do something that focused on teaches, and defined further. and let's focus on high schools that are in low-performing schools. and take this one step further and make this honor something that comes from students. the requirements for this award. first the teacher has to teach in difficult situations. low-performing schools. and secondly they must be nominated by a former student that enrolled or graduated from a four-year university. each year i get well over 100 nominations

i would think that the next issue would be again, just to remanufacture what they said. where is the money coming from a quarter of a million dollars or more and where is the money for the upkeep coming from and these are real numbers and then the impact that this closuresure is going to have in the community and if it's in forest it's going to be great and if they don't take recycling and there is no other autopsies in the neighborhood now there isn't and everyone is waiting for somebody else to do something so nobody else has to plan and they are talk with ri verse inventorying machines there is three in the whole city they don't work they breakdown and it's not a viable option at this point and gone remanufacture the process for the new community garden who's in charge of that, who gets to say who's going to have a plot or not none of this information is coming out of park and reek and we want know what is going on as a community and if you go to the park and reek commission meetings sometimes they are cancel would move around and so beyond that getet willing the comm

but really i would rather not be here. i am a lawyer and for all of my professional career, i have worked with public agencies. i would rather be sitting at a time to work out a reasonable solution that puts all obstacles on the table. but so far staff has not taken our concerns seriously. and to give one example, yesterday i looked at documents for public act requests. and one document was a summary of the golden gate campus and the summary of the creative arts and gateway for proposition 39. it gives the space of the campus and gives what looks look a long demand of space. and for gateway they asked for 13 classrooms. and when i read this, it looks like creative arts is asking for more than gateway. and i looked at their request, and they are asking for the same things that we are asking for. including an art room and teacher work room and many other things. and my purpose in bringing this up, is not to suggest that gateway's request are unreasonable. they are not, but only that staff created in this summary that creative
