the deal could hang in the balance was carl icahn has no faith in the merger. look, icahn admitted when he talked today that he probably can't block the transaction. he accepts that the shareholders are going to approve it. but he took the extraordinary step of actually using a scatological term to describe the deal itself. normally only use that kind of language publicly when he is arguing with guys like bill ackman i think it is wrong because cigna is paying way too much for express scripts. i have to admit i too was skeptical about the transaction and thought it was going to hold back cigna's stock i still believe cigna's shares will be higher than they were right now if the company weren't making the bid that said, we had cigna ceo david cordani on in march and he convinced me the deal will allow him to reach far more customers. i can't help thinking that longer term -- not right now -- but longer term, the combination could be fantastic and cigna's merge were express scripts would produce a higher price stock down the road, not today but down the road. car
