your mother, iliana russ, late and was a member a republican member of congress for 30 years. tell me what those conversations sounded like because you came out of course, there were concerns as you say, about your mother being reelected yes. >> i mean, my family are all republican and they are lifelong conservatives and then i came out as transgender and it was a shock to them, just like it is for many people. i was raised as a girl and have now sent let's transition to live as the man that i along new myself to be my family did not see this coming, which is the case for a lot of parents thankfully, they stood by me. they may not have really understood what it meant to be transgender yet, but they knew that family is family and parents don't abandon their children so i'm very grateful to have my family support but once they accepted me, then there was the question of what about the voters? as you said, my mom was a republican member of congress representing a republican district, and we didn't know what was going to happen and thankfully, the voters did reelect her, not only
