less than 2 1/2 hours later, he's set to appear in d.c. superior court on a misdemeanor campaign finance charge which was filed yesterday. news4's megan mcgrath live outside the federal courthouse where brown will be in just a couple of hours. meg megan? >> reporter: aaron, it's going to be a busy and no doubt unpleasant day for former chairman kwame brown. he has two separate court appearances today. the first happening this morning at the federal courthouse. the second happening a few hours later at d.c.'s superior court. now at 11:00 a.m., brown is expected to plead guilty to a felony bank fraud charge. prosecutors say that brown gave false income information in order to get a home loan and buy a boat which he named bullet proof. then yesterday, a new charge surfaced. brown is now also accused of violating campaign finance laws. prosecutors say he authorized the opening of a campaign side account and that the money spent largely went unreported. now that charge is a misdemeanor. kwame brown has yet to talk to the press about the charges

you are bound to see some type of trees that are toppled or branches of some sort in d.c. ok aim at cars and even people. derrick ward is on capitol hill with a closer look at the damage. what's going on, what's new in your area this morning? >> reporter: good morning. you can see folks are starting to stir now and they're being greeted by quite a sight here on capitol hill. we're in the 200 block of eighth street. the tree came down. it crushed a pickup truck but did damage to the house across the street completely covering the stoop. take a look at the devastation caused by this tree. by all appearances a healthy tree, but it was taken up at its ro root. people are saying the root base seemed to be small for this tree considering its height. didn't deform the sidewalk at all, but did take up the tree box with it when it fell. this scene is played out all over capitol hill and our area. but where the canopy is such an attraction and such a part of this neighborhood, this is a devastating sight. no one was hurt. we talked to a gentleman earlier today who said at the height
