past few months i and my staff have had the opportunity to meet several impressive dreamers living in ohio who illustrate what the loss of daca means to them and their families. i met one young woman who is studying at brown university who needs daca to ensure she can stay here to attend medical school. another young man i met told me that daca, for him, means being able to drive to school and work every day to save up for advanced education. these young people want to live productive lives, and indeed, according to the center for cenr american progress, letting daca expire completely would cost our nation's economy over $460 billion over the next decade, including annual loss to rhode island's economy of an estimated $60 million. finding a solution for these people is not just right thing to do, but it also makes smart economic sense, and i believe that is part of the reason why the american people are largely in agreement on helping dreamers. i also want to note that this same moral and economic sense applies to the need to provide deportation relief and legal status to qualified recipie
