obviously some success in going into the apartment and apartments yesterday in saint-denis. do you have a sense how many more people might be operating or how many people the authorities believe may be operating directly connected to the cells? >> we can only speculate. in the sense of uncertainty which is almost unpalpable. this was probably managed to foil an attack of people heavily armed and up to no good. the idea that raid happened under our noses, it added to the violence and sense of complete insecurity. with the questions of what we know about these people that are being watched. we are talking about the ones known and watched and under judicial control. what about the others? all of these questions add to the feeling anything can happen at anytime. it is troubling. >> they were in the shadow of stade de france, where the attacks happened on friday. >> a little more than a mile away. we thought eight. now we know at least eight others. two dead. several under arrest. thanks very much, melissa bell. we appreciate your take and analysis. here in paris, people are pulli

we do have a couple more eyewitness accounts here, craig, from our folks on the scene in saint-denis. are quotes from neighbors in this apartment building where all of this took place. alexander lives on the street next to where the operation played out. he said, i was sleeping, i heard the noise, the shots. realized it wasn't fireworks. i opened the window, i didn't see anything. so then i came down to the street. i saw police on rue de la republique, then the cops told us to get back. then he heard both the series of shots that we have heard on our air and the explosions. he said between 4:30 and 6:30, there were a lot of shots. he describes this as mainly a muslim neighborhood, but everyone is calm and gets along. and he added, a terrorist can live anywhere, i guess. his name is alexander, he's 28 years old, he lives this that neighborhood. there has been here on the streets of paris, a pervasive sense of unease, obviously since friday, since all of this happened. you can imagine mixed emotions this morning as people wake up and see this, first of all, as laura haim has been report

apparently of the plot that took place here last friday, and is also one of the ones who was killed in saint-denis. they believe he was either in syria or iraq. but it turns out of course he was inside france, he was in saint-denis inside that apartment. now the intelligence that led to that came apparently from the moroccan intelligence service who have been tracking abaaoud. and they are the ones who tipped off the french. apparently the french found out that he was indeed in france, that he was in paris, and that he was in that northern suburb of paris, saint-denis around november 16th. so three days after the actual attacks happened. we've been reporting since the raid that the apartment that these terrorists were in was under surveillance for about 24 hours. that's a pretty short time for them to make a move. but that is because they feared the police, that a second attack could be imminent by this terrorist cell. and they say they believe they got there just in time. the raid itself, of course, george, as we've been seeing, a very violent affair with that female suicide bomber who allegedly
