colleges pay a lot of attention to those rankings and deemed him provost and president are sometimes incentivized to try to raise the rankings they are paid more if the rankings increase and they spend a lot of time gaming the metrics. a few years ago i was giving a talk at a liberal arts college i was talking to someone who teaches undergraduate courses i said how many students and he said 18. i said that is an interesting topic why are there more? he said if we have more than 18 and is negative with the metric in the rankings so these things happen all the time. or in law school one of the main factors is the lsat scores so what do law schools do? they admit students with high scores and then they admit those with lower scores on the probationary basis so they don't get included in the rankings or here is something else that goes on all the time law schools raid schools one level below them by taking students that started at another school so their scores are lower have them transfer to the higher law school and their scores don't get counted because they were not part of the freshman class. so
