this is an incredible city. everywhere i go, i tell everyone that this is the atlantis of today. ere is no other city in the world -- i have been everywhere. there is nothing like san francisco. in fact, to me, it is not even the united states. you can see how fox network always attacks us. we do not have an inferiority complex. we just do not follow blindly. we question authority. as i said before, a person for person, there are more artists and con artists in the bay area. >> you are someone who has identified so strongly with the bay area. a lot of it reflects the values that you also identify with. i know that you have been promoting an idea for a work of public art that could be pretty transformative. could you talk about that? >> peace brother is something that i saw, i think in the 1980's there was this lady. she started back there and converted -- she went to the neighborhood and was collecting the guns from some of the gang members. she had it melted and turned into angels. we want to do the same thing and take it to the next level we want to build a boom box by his feet,

it is one of the most incredible works of art in the city, bar none. is a huge mural of incredible works. >> the san francisco civic arts collection has been in existence since the turn of the century. it consists of everything from monument to golden gate park to market street, other works in the collection, from the wpa era, the quite tower, the works from the george washington high school. we have the contemporary education, where they depict some of the vocational arts that were taught at george washington high school. what is interesting is the artist's and corp. of some of the -- incorporation of some of the architectural elements. they used the speaker from the p a system as part of the design. on the opposite side of the library, we have a large fresco which depicts the academic subjects that were taught at the time. it serves as a foil to the other fresco in the library, we have academic subjects on one side, vocational subjects on the other, and result is the concept of a well-rounded education. additionally, what we plan to do is the academy

having said that, i wanted to say that this city is incredibly wonderful. i worked with 26,000 people who are very dedicated. in my early years, i did not feel that good about this city. i spent a few years litigating against the city to try to make it right. now, 21 years later, there is sense. the city is much more reflective of our communities and we struggled to make sure that we do this more and more. it is a goal of this administration to open the doors, keep them open. i want to make sure that we will continue doing this. that is not only a tradition, this city is changing so much and we have to be on top of the game. we have to be engage with all of the voices in the city and make sure that they enjoy all of the benefits that the city has. this is not just by way of jobs but by opportunities. so many opportunities are derived from the great talent that we have in the leadership of the city. i take this opportunity to not only be serious but also an appreciation of what this means to everyone. to make sure that this is balanced and to make sure that i

incredible event. we demonstrate to the city, to visitors, and to residents that the wharf is a great place for them to visit. businesses embraced it. we pulled off a really strong event. everyone had a lot of fun. we partnered with local neighborhood organizations. we gained exposure for them. the local ymca was able to pull together for the event. another unique thing for the fisherman's wharf cbd is a pier safe program. we have thousands of visitors staying in our hotels. it was important to us that we were able to respond with emergency preparedness. we have an active committee that works with the fire department. we have helped train, over the last five years, over 400 certifications. we have over 100 people on fisherman's wharf who are certified. we do an annual drill around the anniversary of the earthquake where we can demonstrate and practice those skills. it is a year-long program. we have a radio check, where we check in with our businesses on every tuesday at noon. we do that to make sure the communications are well. the people and businesses have really embraced it and they have helped spr
