originally, indianapolis was expecting about 100,000 people to come here for the eclipse. now they're expecting even more in many of those people, about 40,000 of them are going to be spending those precious few minutes of totality at the indianapolis motor speedway and some of the things that make this eclipse so unique and different from the one in 2017, is that the moments of totality or about double the length? >> the maximum >> amount for this eclipse is going to be a little over four minutes compared to about two-and-a-half minutes back in 2017. and the other thing that makes this eclipse so cool is the fact that back in 2017, that eclipse was time to a period of pretty subdued solar activity. but this one is timed almost perfectly to coincide with the period of peak solar activity. so when the moon fully crosses in front of the sun, you should be able to see some really cool activity. those solar flares and coronal mass ejections coming off the sun surface. so now it really just all comes down to the weather and everyone here hoping that the rain and the clouds clea

. >> so one of the cities in the path of totality is indianapolis, indiana. it's the first time in over 800 years that area is going to see a total solar eclipse, nearly if 50,000 people from over 25 countries are expected to watch this all play out today from the indianapolis motor speedway and wonderful place to celebrate. soon as mike valero is there in indianapolis, he's joining us now, mike, he's just of nasa's top astronauts who are gathered there as well. what are they looking to do? >> so there are top astronauts key and also top scientists who are milling around with the spectators. so they're going to be astronauts who are meeting and greeting, you know, the next generation of scientists, young people who are gonna be here with families. but we had the chance a couple of hours go to to speak with nikki rachel, she's one of the leading scientists for nasa's helio physics division. so what we're talking about, the physics of the sun and when we hit totality a 30, six in the afternoon, it's going be all of us up to 50,000 people. as you mentioned, kate

you mentioned indianapolis and the success with reducing homelessness. are there any communities that come to mind with regards to meeting their goals on producing new units? adrianne: that's a great question. i think there are a number of localities who are doing that. we know that indianapolis took some really bold steps years ago in terms of what they did to remove barriers, and i think that it is true that they've seen some growth in the number of units that are produced. we know that there are many other cities like charlotte, like austin who whenever you are there, you see units being built. units that are affordable. i was in nashville not long ago and saw a number of investments that that city was making, using the state and local physical recovery funds but also using some hud tools as well to make sure that they were building. so there's a number of cities across the country who are working very diligently. i think now the question is about pace, not just about need. dennis: i'm going to just interject. i know there are a couple more audience q
