kentucky, indiana, west virginia for the former president.ted press. that's a dark blue that state has gone for kamala harris 23 -- three. the night is still very young. robert is keeping tabs of what voters are saying. what are they saying? >> josh won her 15000 voters were polled by ap vote cast. one of the questions they were asked was what is the most important issue facing our country? take a look at how they responded. the economy and jobs was a topic 39% responded saying that is the most important issue facing the nation. immigration came in at number two with 20% 11% said abortion followed by a healthcare and climate change. crime, gun policy racism all type verse six the economy and immigration clearly the two largest concerns of voters heading to the polls. interestingly, in a separate question when asked their vote that larger share of respondents about half said the democracy and the future democracy is what got them to the polls. >> robert, thank you so much. polls close in georgia, the state of georgia at the top of the hour. on

we have indiana, west virginia, kentucky, tennessee, south carolina, alabama, mississippi, oklahoma and florida already quote, called for trump so far no race has been called in terms of the big 7 swing states. those include michigan, pennsylvania, north carolina voting hasn't been tallied yet in wisconsin. nora, arizona, or nevada, but the lighter colored areas here mean that those states are right now leaning in that direction. so let's go up to michigan where we're just getting some some numbers. and with just 4% of the votes counted there, kamala harris leading the former president, donald trump at 137 nearly 100 and 38,002 donald trumps nearly 80,000 with just 4% in those numbers. as you can see, courtesy of the associated press updating as we speak. we want to go now to pennsylvania, which we just mentioned just just for our sake to see if anything has been updated there just yet. but just 7% of the votes counted in pennsylvania, important swing state for both of these candidates. kamala harris with nearly 370,073% right there. donald trump at nearly 132,000 with 26% of the votes.

, the first poll closings, you see the countdown here, that's going to be in most -- some of indiana, kentucky. we don't expect either state to be a swing state. set to be a battleground. we'll see if there is any surprises or a couple of counties in the states that might give us some kind of a clue, though they're usually very slow at counting indiana. really it is 7:00 eastern, that is when the action is going to start, the first core battleground state georgia, polls close there, and i think this is key to keep in mind. if we think back to 2020, the weekend after the election, we were still waiting on a result in georgia. it may be very different this time around. there has been a change in the state law, a change in the process and what it essentially means is that in that first hour, between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m., we expect it all goes to plan about 80% of all of the votes cast in georgia will be counted, and known publicly in that first hour. the only thing that will be left after that that would come in over the next couple of hours would be the people going out to georgia, cast the polls

trump won easily there in indiana, so, too, in kentucky. a little bit coming in right now.s is kenton county, by the way. kenton county is right across the river from cincinnati. 76% of the voted coming in now. what we will be able to do throughout the night is find out how trump did this year versus how he did in 2020 and how he did back in 2016. so we're going to have a lot of data points throughout the night to see how that goes. but, really, it is all about this down here. you see that? we're going to be tracking this throughout the evening. this is the magic number. let's go ahead and look at the path to 270. we'll go ahead and show what we have done here. okay? we have taken nebraska's second district and given that to harris as of now, barring any surprises, harris starts out the night at 226 and trump starts at 219. it's the race to 270. based on some of the early vote and some of the polling we have done so far. we will take georgia the peach state, a state trump narrowly lost four years ago and go ahead and give that to the red team. also in the american southeast

indiana and kentucky. we will see our battleground states start to close at 7:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. hour. in that hour, georgia closes at 7:00 p.m. 2020 we had first rules from georgia just 20 minutes after the polls closed but remember it took two weeks for georgia to be called in 2020. georgia secretary of state now predicts a very fast election this year. north carolina 7:30 polls close. also a state expected to dump a lot of votes right away. the last votes should be cast in pennsylvania, barring any changes at 8:00 p.m. most of michigan 8:00 p.m. and then the rest of it 9:00 p.m. in wisconsin, again, 9:00 p.m., we expect to see results shortly thereafter. although they start counting on election day. arizona, the polls close at 9:00 p.m., but many of the precincts won't report about one hour after close. so we can expect to see first results about 10:00 p.m. eastern time. in nevada, polling places wait to report data until the last person in line has voted. so technically 10:00 p.m. but we will see first results probably around 11:40. at least that's what we saw in 2020. now, a

eastern hour, some of that in indiana and kentucky.t a sense quickly will be right around 7:00 and that's going to be when polls in georgia close, so, remember, 2020, joe biden narrowly won georgia. trump had carried it in 2016. it's one of the core battleground states. where are we going to look in georgia? let me pull up the results from 2020 to remind you what the state looked like and one of the places we're going to be looking right away. i call it the blue blob, these core blue democratic counties right in the atlanta metro area, these are big, growing counties, and they've been getting increasingly democratic, more than 40% of the vote statewide is going to come out of these counties. the question is, is the blue blob expanding? are democrats getting more out of this area? the place i will key in on is fayette county. the democrats have been getting closer and closer. in 2012 the republicans won the county by 2-1. trump came along, their margin falls under 20 points, down to seven last time and, again, we talk about the suburbs

>> what we did early on, we get the vote from indiana and kentucky and allows us to figure out, is iterforming consistent with the data. a couple of states where trump overperformed. florida is one. we were concerned that we might be overestimating trump's performance in rural areas. the more data we got, the more that didn't seem to be the case. he was hitting what we thought he would hit. so -- >> bret: we've got the brain here. anybody else have a question for darren? >> i'm curious about immigration and what you have seen in terms of how much that played in to the votes in some of these states. >> the one thing we can say is that it didn't repel people. in particular, there was some talk about the hispanic vote coming home over the issue of immigration. that did not seem to happen much at all. it was suggested 40% with trump's performance among latinos. that was within 13 or 14 points of harris. the day before the election, he would get 40% of the hispanic vote, that's a tough night for democrats to win an election in. >> some reporting that trump has won erie county, pennsylvania
