. >> as the city attorney said, we are not claiming to be indigent. we understand what the law requires for people who are indigent to have their fees waived. but part of the state housing law requires fees for prosecuting all of the work that the department of building inspection would do to enforce the code. they have to be limited to recent requirements and that they shall not be levied for general revenue purposes. i understand that the fee has gone up from $100 to $748 in one fell swoop. it seems like a pretty large increase at one time. i would like to research the question of whether that reflects the reasonable costs of the department to address these complaints. but i will just wrap it up. we will take the stand to say that we're broke. we are not going to go as a tenants' association in as individual members the details of their personal finances before this board. we think that the department of building inspection should do a good faith effort to enforce law and, if they do not, we will have to find some other way to address it. but we are

luke's, but i do practice in the community and took care of a lot of indigent patients that have lower reimbursements. i know how difficult it is to run an office when you are with metical patients -- medi cal patients. the building's owners are planning to raise the rents significantly for the existing physicians and not only that, they are charging retroactive increases as much as five years. there are also adding fees for use of the hallways and after- hours office visits. to me, it's obvious that sutter is trying to drive out the community physicians that are barely making a living when there office -- in their office as it is. they're planning not to -- planning to have the right to refuse these physicians to sign a new leases. in my opinion, as someone who has had experience taking care of these poor patients, they will have no doctor to get to and i'm wondering if sutter is retaliating against physicians practicing at st. luke's and are expressing their concerns to the plan. this is the only hospital south of market besides san francisco general. many poor patients depend on thi

south lake christian academy, where they helped build classrooms and held bible study classes for indigent children. jennifer and stef knee, you know, they come from a great family. i've known their parents, jeff and lisa, for several years an i'm honored to count them as friends. they're some of the town's most outgoing and charitable people and with fine parents like these, it's no wonder that jennifer, stephanie and their oler sister samantha turned out to be the fine young women they did, incredible, special young ladies. but tragedy struck this family and the entire community over the july 4 weekend when jennifer and stephanie were involved in an automobile accident. sadly, jennifer was taken on a that -- on that day and stephanie was injured but thankfully, thank the lord, she survived. thousands later turned out for jennifer's memorial service and funeral. and people asked, why did so many people, thousands of people, come out to this extraordinary 18-year-old young lady's funeral? and it was, i think, put in the best words by the head of school at south lake christian academy, wane
