we begin in switzerland with indira lakshmanan on. good evening. indira: good evening. the only big question here is deal or no deal? we still don't know how it is going. we have got 24 hours down to the deadline of march 31 that was set by the united states and its partners in these negotiations back in november. at this point, every single movement of a foreign minister every word that is uttered, is being analyzed and pored over as if it was a magic tea leaf. we do not know if we will get a deal or not. the russian foreign minister said he is not coming back unless there is the possibility of a deal. that may be a bellwether for us. the chinese foreign minister said he thought something could get sorted out. we are on the edge of our seats and do not know which way this is going to go. mark: peter cook in washington, what is the mood? there is a lot at stake in the political arena for the obama administration. peter: absolutely. the same waiting game happening here in washington. the president did travel to massachusetts for that ceremony for the edward kennedy libra

indira: excellent question.is an excellent question, and it seems the iranians have brought it up at the talks and they are not happy. at the same time, the iranians have managed to keep all the other issues, like syria, like yemen, saudi arabia, out of the talks, we are being told by officials involved in those talks. while it has been raised, it is not actually interfering with the nuclear question. i think they are trend to look at the broader picture. both iran and the united states are under real pressure. if they don't get the deal by march 31, certainly in washington, you will see pressure on capitol hill to put new sanctions on tehran and to pass legislation that will give -- on iran and to pass legislation that will give congress and upper down vote on anything the white house agrees to. my own feeling is they will probably get agreement. matt: how much of a problem our opposition forces in congress to the president's -- p[rroblem are opposition forces in congress to the president's negotiations? indira

indira: it is incredibly complicated. saudi arabia and israel and the united arab emirates have -- for a run. some of our closest allies in the region cannot stand iran and do not want them to get this nuclear deal because they think it will open a bigger deal for them with the islamic republic. officials say they have taken regional issues out of the talks. the issue of yemen came up last week but it is not something that has been part of the negotiations. they tried to keep the two things separate. i wanted to second what peter is saying that it will be hard for lawmakers in the end if the administration is able to make its case and pitch the deal and as much detail as they are able to give which is probably going to be in classified settings. we may not be able to find out those details right away while they continue to draft for the next three months. the never really was a march 24 deadline. that was something congress made up. the real deadline the ministers and set was tonight at midnight swiss time. we will see if
