indivisible tonight has published version 2.0 of the indivisible guide. a practical guide to the new democratic house. joining us now is ezra levin, a coauthor of the indivisible guide. this is his first interview since the handbook was released tonight. mr. levin, thank you for being here. >> thank you for having me. >> so, the last guide was defense basically. it was about how democrats could stop republicans and congress given the levers they had in power. this is about offense. what is the tactical difference? >> we are incredibly excited for this tactical difference because the first two years, the last two years that we spent had been on desk, like you're saying. we didn't have the house, the senate or the presidency. so when we put out the original indivisible guide, we started from this place of weakness. we knew we didn't have agenda-setting power. democrats did not have agenda-setting power. instead they had the power to respond. now that's different. because of the house of representatives, because that house is in control of democrats's hands,

just look at just indivisible. we first talked about indivisible on this show on january 4th of last year. so a couple of weeks before trump's inauguration, before the women's marches, before any of that, we had noticed these very, very small protests cropping up. in fact, you might not even call them protests, just constituents showing up at the offices of the republican members of congress to voice their concerns, like these women who showed up at the office of congressman bob goodlatte in roanoke, virginia. other people turned up at senator cory gardner's office in colorado. just ordinary citizens visiting their representatives, but they're being very deliberate about their strategy and getting the word out about what they're doing. we started following, that and we quickly realized that they were following this new online guide, the indivisible guide, which was drawn up by some former democratic congressional staffers you've never heard of, and they were putting this document together to give people very practi

the indivisible team was looking at the results for georgia 6.running back then. we were really hoping he was going to pull it out. we thought that would show people that, yes, a wave was rebuilding. he didn't win, but what happened tuesday night was incredible because those same indivisible groups there, when we called them that night back last june, we were calling them to cheer them up to say you did a great thing and we're going to keep on building. we ended up being cheered by them. they said, we're just excited we're purple now. we're in a purple district. we can win this and we can build on this. three days ago they took that seat. a leader in the black lives matter movement, an inspirational figure is joining the u.s. house of representatives in that same district and it's not just her. you ran a clip of several candidates. folks like ayanna pressley. every single one of those folks are running based on grassroots support, are running by not taking corporate pac dollars and are going to lead the change we need. this is just the beginning.

you have progressives in another corner, you'd have activists in the third corner, you have indivisibles and a group of soccer moms from the suburbs coming together and watching the muslim community see that and the validation i think was incredibly important. we didn't win our primary. that is not how it ended up. we were able to build a movement of people who kept each other together and were engaging in each other. those are still relationships that you will talk to some auntie and she will ask you about somebody she met at a rally. she will ask how is that guy doing? it's just a beautiful thing to see. >> i think there are probably amazing vin diagrams between aunties that are blm and indivisible. it is powerful to see how you uplifted the community and gave them a new vision. who would like to go next? >> great. thank you so much. thank you to all of you for being here for all the great work that cair does for our community on a day to day basis. i tend to agree with abdul in terms of my experience in the races that i run. i do want to just quickly talk first about my experience run
