southern china and the northern indochina peninsula are dealing with serious flooding and powerful winds. our meteorologist jonathan oh has the details. jona? >> hello, we are continuing to monitor as it crosses into land and continues to dump a lot of rain fall. it made landfall during the overnight period in the northern portions of vietnam. you can see the clouds that are really covering the southwestern corner of china, all of vietnam, and a good portion of the indochina peninsula. and i want to show you some video of the area. what happened on tuesday. havoc in south china's hainan province. extremely rough seas left boats stranded several fishermen had to be rescued. the storm also brought strong winds, and heavy rains triggered serious flooding. more than 200 flights were canceled. in gaung shi province, two women were killed by a falling tree. more than 25,000 people were evacuated. with the saturation of the ground, that's when the trees are not able to stay stable and that's why you have those types of problems. it looks like this system is losing its tropical characteristics v

the indochina peninsula seeing heavy rainfall, and same thing goes here for northeastern india. you remember a few weeks ago, we were talking about the severe flooding back to the west, in cashmere, and also through pakistan. this is a separate event. still associated with the monsoon. but you can see some areas here, 500 to 600 millimeters of precipitation in the last several days. let's show the video coming out of here. it's pretty rough images. people having a rough time driving through here. about 40 people have actually died in the flooding and landslides triggered by the heavy rains in northeastern india. district administrations called for a holiday on tuesday in this region, calling for all schools and colleges actually to have been closed due to the flooded roads. also landslides taking place in the same areas. meanwhile, about 50 villages have been hit by flash floods. authorities, plenty of rescues out there. unfortunately, people are still low on food and water. this is definitely an ongoing situation. still expecting more rainfall in the next several days. at least

more of the low pressure system here that's feeding the moisture towards the philippines and indochina peninsula. 134 millimeters of rainfall has fallen across thailand. bangkok at 34, chance of thunderstorms. beijing hitting 30 degrees, ulan bator still above the norm, but your morning low on sunday could drop as much as just 3 degrees. now here across the american continent, we'll be looking at another system. which is a hurricane still. it's a category 1, it still has tropical storm warnings in place for southern tip of baja, california. as hurricane moving parallel to the peninsula. and it's already packing maximum winds of 150 kilometers per hour. so of course the storm surge, life-threatening rip currents will be bringing rough sea conditions. try to be not venturing out in these waters and 100 millimeters to 150 millimeters of rainfall will be falling across any of these locations and that surge of moisture will continue to move its way up to the four corners and the texas panhandle. so even out towards further north, flash flooding will be possible. flash floods could be possible around
