people are struggling in the city. and what we have in front of us here is an important part of the solution. all the folks who came in who are a part of the good government type organizations like spur, it's concerning to me they didn't comment on the jobs housing report and come forward with us with solutions and partnership but instead just got up there and opposed a real solution to this crisis. we need everybody working together to build more housing especially affordable housing. this is a part of this solution. but it's not the only step that we have to take. but i think it's a critical one because as i said we know what it looks like when we don't act with boldness and urgency and somebody said this was an extreme step. i think if you look at that report and what has happened then with the massive displacement of people who are low income and middle-income in our city, that is extreme. and what we need is a bold and extreme response in order to reverse that trend. so we will continue to have office development g

in greening the city spaces. if you're not familiar with it, greening the city is a great local nonprofit in helping the residents restore the canopy and the habitat. i'm also currently serving a four-year term on the san francisco bay restoration committee. you might wonder why i want to serve on the urban forest council. i would like to help enhance the health of the san francisco urban forest street tree canopy. i believe better informed residents can be great asset and partners in a mission to have healthy citywide tree canopy. i would also like to find solutions to have needed resources to have reliable and systemic maintenance for the city's trees. my daughter and i both have planted over 20 trees in the city. we think it's a joy that can be enjoyed by so many, including by birds and animals. friends of urban forests has given me rich experiences, and reminds me of the diverse work that's being done to build a sustainable city. i have an economics and management background with a master's in environmental m

as we continu need in our city as we continue to grow. the major thing is we are updating our fee so projects in the pipeline will pay $52.20 per square foot, and that will increase to $69.60. there's a phasing in. we recognize that for the pipeline projects that are not expecting an increase of this size, particularly because most of those projects are in central soma and they're paying significant fees. we also will be adjusting the rate of the laboratory fee, so we'll phase it out to $38.37. in recommendations to the small business commission, the smaller projects, so projects between 25,000 and 50,000 square feet will pay a slightly reduced rate, as well, with concerns with those projects' viability and a concern they have a lesser margin. and lastly, we require a nexus and feasibility study be conducted every five years and that will take into account commercial development of varying size so we can see a viability. again, i want to thank members of the land use committee and supervisor peskin for his partnership, supervisor mar, as w
