east bay regional parks police working to determine why a woman may have stabbed her infant son to death over the weekend. kpix 5 reporter kip do with an update on the disturbing case. >> reporter: good morning, the woman is now held with no bail as investigators try to figure out why she confessed to such a violent crime. newton a 23-year-old who lives in san jose right now, has been booked on murder charges after she told investigators she stabbed her 7 month old baby to death. it happened saturday morning at regional park in livermore when officers found a car badly damaged in a crash. a short time later, newton approached the scene covered in blood. the baby was pronounced dead at the scene. newton was treated for a self- inflicted cut. police arrested her and found what they believe a murder weapon, a pocket knife. no motive but believe she may have suffered from depression. witnesses say newton was repeatedly crashing her car into a rock and the stabbing likely happened after the crash. newton is unemployed, originally from north carolina with no immediate family here in the san jo
