i polled the captains of payview, mission, ingleside and the northern district. these are the most affected by gang violence. they said they appreciated what the crn did what they want to see them more. they need to fill that communication. it also comes down to training and trust, to be able to have them talk to officers. they would address the officers, they had arrested some of them, when there were actually under. they will help the police and the community. under his guidance we are the most active community. of anyone in this country and any department. he puts his money where his mouth is. he tells them to stay out of the gang, and that we have officers with a wilderness program. there are a number of things in the organization in place to start to make change. we have seen this over the last three or four years. in 2008 there were 98 homicides in san francisco. the number is now almost half. i think we continue to see that, as we work with the community. in closing, i want to say that your task force, they do an amazing job. they have the community aspect

i got a chance to get to know richard hogan in our time when i was living in the ingleside neighborhood near the balboa park station and we got to further development our relationship both as political science majors at sf state and we both had taken an active participation in some community groups. mestly at sf state. and in our time together i got a chance to see his work ethic and what he applies himself as. we took the l s.a.t. recently and w i think the board would be delighted with his attitude and his effort he would part put form. >> is there any other public comment? if you did come to the last rules committee and if you want to speak at this time?

nothing really to report because it's long and convoluted and working with neighborhood people and ingleside station, hopefully we'll meet with the neighbors soon, and hopefully we've called into them and have a meeting with them also soon, they've been doing some minor sign, and nile cafe have been operating, one has been operating without extended hours, they should be coming in and also [inaudible], so overall, i know i normally don't go through the list like this, we've had an increase in complaints and we've been focusing attention in addressing those complaints currently and so far we've been able to make a lot of traction on them so it's a lot, a new person would definitely be very helpful. continually, you'll see there's lots of incidents so forth and so on, not as bad as in the past, we've seen a decrease in incidents overall which is nice, but instead of going through those, i know officer mathias is here from central station, so he'll bring up his highlights but as far as i am, any good questions you have? >> has [inaudible] paid its fines. >> we have not cited them currently. >>

he's worked in uniformed patrol, in plain clothes at the academy in bayview ingleside, northern and terra val stations. for the last 4-1/2 years he has been assigned as a homeless outreach officer. quite often police officers as we know are the point of first contact for people in crisis and many of the individuals that officer ju meets with in his work as a homeless outreach officer have shown serious mental health issues that contribute to their homelessness. officer ju does an amazing job of connecting these individuals with resources to help them off the streets, and into treatment and case management they need with sensitivity and professionalism. supervisor chu really wishes she could be here and we're sorry with the storms, but really wantedth to personally say how much she appreciates all your work on behalf of not only the station and the mental health community but the homeless outreach that you do on behalf of terra val station. and it's a real honor to present this on her behalf and thank you for all that you do for our city.
